MLP is a fad, Sarif. You just don't see it like outsiders do because you're caught up in the hype.

Fads don't have their own large conventions with the show's creator and the voice actors in attendance :P

What you see as a fad is another, newer branch in the My Little Pony fandom, which has been around since the 80s with the original earlier generations. Each generation adds another large boost of fandom members due to attracting a different audience and a younger generation of people. FiM is generation four, and is no different than the previous generations in that there is/was lots hype about it, and many new people became fans of the show and series. The only fad that had risen from FiM is everyone freaking out about how awesome it was :P That has died down significantly. Bronies aren't even going to go away entirely, they just won't be so vocal about what they like is all.

So basically they'll turn into pokemon fans. :P
