Hey there all! I'm still living, I promise. (x I still don't have a computer, but I get on and check FA when I can. I must say though, that I've moved mostly away from digital art and more into photography, although I don't have a high tech camera, and I most certainly don't consider myself a photographer. I just love taking pictures! I don't post any on FA, as you can see, because I don't really consider it having to do with Furries at all, but I do have a tumblr! Also, on Thursday and Friday there was a talent show that I was in and I did the song "No Good Deed" from the Broadway Musical, "Wicked". I'll post the videos as soon as I have them! (:

Right after the talent show in the week, there was a Celtic singing competition yesterday! This is what I posted on Tumblr about it:

So yesterday for St. Patrick’s day, I went to a local bar to compete in a Celtic singing competition. It was so perfect for me because I’ve loved celtic music since I was a wee lassie. ;3

One of my close friends, Dana, was there as well to compete. She’s a senior, and I’m a sophomore (in highschool).

So we get there and we meet the judges and the orchestrator of the competition. She takes one look at me and starts freaking out “OH MY GOD, SHE’S SO CUTE! I want a picture with our youngest singing competitor! D’awww look at her!”. I was like “this is off to a good start”. (x

The competition began, and I was the very first contestant to sing for the judges. I got up and smiled, took the mic, and sang “Hills of Shiloh” in the style of Trapezoid. I finished, and the crowd erupted into applause, I felt so proud!!! I simply said thank you, (I didn’t know what else to say!) smiled, and walked off stage, hoping that an amazing act didn’t follow me. (x

There were lots of great competitors in the first half! I was intimidated by one lady that had a gorgeous voice, but the whole time I figured “what happens, happens. Don’t get upset about it no matter what”.

Dana performed in the second half, and she did an absolutely stunning job! I was worried that the judges weren’t going to think that her song was celtic style enough because she used a theater style to sing it, but none the less, it was beautiful!! And then… It happened. (Dun dun dun!).

We saw one of the best singers that lives in our town pull up (her name is Leah), her guitar with her. She’s a really sweet person, so she’s not one of those snooty mean girl competitors, but once I saw her, I knew that I was beat. (x

She sang and played, and I died. XD It was gorgeous. She did an awesome job.

So then we played the waiting game, but finally, the judges chose 2 finalists. Me, and Leah. My jaw hit the floor!!! Dana was sad, but she was a good sport and congratulated me.

The judges asked us to sing again, and they had only asked us to prepare one song. This was what separated the true celtic lovers from the people who entered just for the prize. Luckily, I knew another one. :3 Leah went first and absolutely nailed it, guitar and all. I was pretty nervous, but I went up and sang “The Maid That Sold Her Barley” with no music, and I felt like I did well. (:

Finally, the lady came out to announce the winner. She said it was a tough choice, but the judges had chosen a winner…

”..and the winner is Cassidy.”

My jaw hit the floor again. x——D Leah hugged me and congratulated me. She was really sweet about it. (: There was a $1000 prize to the winner. Guess who’s got enough to get a decent car now? :DDD

All in all, it was an awesome experience. (: It was my first singing competition ever, and I’m really proud of how I and my friends did. (: We took some videos, so when we get them up, I’ll definitely post the links! :3

Then I came home and watched half of Mr. Poppers Penguins (yes, we rent PG movies when we’re too tired to keep up with the plot of more complex movies xD) and ate Ice Cream with my boyfriend, who drove me and stayed in the hot sun to support me throughout the entire 5 hour competition. :3 We both have burnt shoulders and burnt faces to prove it. ;P
