Let me tell you a story.

Followers, Friends and Fans. I hope you don't mind me getting a little personal for a moment, but something today made me think long and hard about where I am, and where I came from almost half a decade back.
Back before FurAffinity, I was nothing much more then a strange lad going through an even stranger change in my life. I had already began drawing solidly since leaving my Primary, and had already focused a lot of my attention onto drawing doodles, comic strips and sketches for myself and my friends in whatever spare time I had. Crayolas, Charcoals and Pencils were all dried and broken in their hundreds over an eventful summer.
Of course, there seemed to be a lot of recurring themes. Muscular Heroes, Strange Parodies, and more interestingly - Werewolves. Tortured beasts in the body of men, that under the light of the full moon explode out in a feral exposition. Perhaps it was a mix of cartoons as a kid - particular favorites being the rubbery works of Tex Avery and those of their ilk. In fact, I believe I had a very strong fascination for skits that involved growth of some sort. Angry Beavers, Snookems and Meat, Tom and Jerry, even the classic King-sized Canary all seemed to resonate with something I didn't quite understand.

As I became a little more internet savvy, my friends and family would show me the latest and weirdest cartoons and animations that appeared almost on a weekly basis. It was from there that I happened upon the work of Weebl - the British animator famous for his music videos and the adventures of Weebl and Bob. It was these cartoons, and the works of those found of Newgrounds that started a love affair with Macromedia Flash (now owned by Adobe), that has developed over the course of many years, shaping my work and my career prospects. But through these websites, there were other avenues I hadn't known about before. Webcomics in particular caught my attention - one in particular more then the others.

The work of WLP productions, It became an early obsession as I became acquainted with this new, strange world. Not only did it feature artwork that made me want to improve my skills, but it featured characters and situations that I hadn't realised I had an interest in before. Growth, Transformation, Certain elements of the physique becoming more exaggerated then others. I needed more. and through there I found the website that sparked my love affair with the fandom.

One of the earliest memories I have of entering the world of growth, transformations and furrys, it was an amazing database of cartoons from my childhood and beyond that featured all elements of size play. I was completely hooked - I had to hop from artists to artwork to fan-art to animations, and in the process try it out on my own terms.
Through there, I found FA, and after months of sulking around it's pages for favourite artists, I decided to start an account, and post my first strange Sonic the Hedgehog related piece:

The rest is visual history. A slow evolution of my style and tastes over almost 6 years.
So what made me want to make me spill my guts out for people who'll think to themselves: tl;dr?
I went to look at my inbox this morning, only to see I was being followed by this man:
stonegate
The wolf who originally put me here. The sage who's gallery of gorgeous growth started a long and sorrid love-affair with the genre. One filled with friends for life, valuable knowledge, and a huge confidence boost that has shaped my adult life.
So yeah, thank you very much for that! You don't know how much your watch meant to me - just as all my watches, favorites and comments mean to me.
Just out of interest, What are your guys stories of how you came to FA? or at least into the Fandom. I'd love to hear everyone's unique tale!

FA+

Honestly, I was dizzy from the shock.
Glad to know I'm not the only one <3
Around this same time, through both related and unrelated searches, I was discovering some of the original macrofurry websites, such as macrophile.com, LavaDome (at that time still 2.0), Temdant's page, and Joe Ekatis' art. Again, I didn't fully understand WHY I was so drawn to giant-sized anthropomorphic animals--I just knew that I was, and I pursued said interests, lurking for years.
I finally decided to take the plunge and become an active member of the fandom during the start of my second semester in college, circa January 2003. I first posted on a now-defunct macrofurry forum called Lofty Bearings. As far as FurAffinity is concerned...If memory serves me correctly, a few people I knew and with whom I chatted online on a regular basis kept telling me of their own accounts there, how it was a place where I could post my music for the rest of the fandom to hear, etc. So that's how I came here.
