My Experience at FWA's Fursuit Dance Competition!!
If you want, you may call me Mangy, but pronounce the 'G'!
I may give a overall con report later.
Every year. Better than the last.
If you didn't get to see it, this is the best video out so far. Real close to the action and you can catch all the reactions of the judges too.
Talent was insane, the event holder had to extend from 15 dancers to 21 because there was just some great talent they couldn't cut.
With the extra dancers however the judges were asked to limit any commentary to one per dancer.
If you were one of the dancers and would like a critique, I would be honored to offer one in a Note, you all dI eserve it.
As a judge it was enjoying to be right there infront of the dancers, definitely a very exciting experience. However I missed all my dancers T_T I felt so separated from the shenanigans we always pull when we're together. The energy would always flow amongst us.
The other judges were great company too atleast :3
I tried to make the most of my position by incorporating a few silly gags.
One gag consisted of handing out autographed copies of MonsteRoo. I think some people took those a little too seriously D:
There were some scary obsessed fan faces out there for some 99 cent copies I got at the UPS store that morning and thought of a signature later in my hotel room.
The results of the contest were
Kendi (kwik)
Phor
Bit (skroy)
Personally I had a slightly different line up and it came extremely close. The judging was made based on 5 points for skill, and 5 for crowd. I believe it was that crowd pleaser point that decided the final outcome. Next year I think we will actually have another column made for creativity as by my suggestion.
I was rather unsatisfied when it came to my own exhibition dance.
Perhaps I'm just too hard on myself, but also I'm getting so frustrated at the restraints the MonsteRoo suit puts on myself.
I'm going to get on track and try to build Mangusu before confuzzled.
KEEP ON DANCING!!

FA+

I am giving serious consideration to auditioning for next year. It would be my first dance competition try-out ever...let alone one in my suit. But I'd love to do it and have a chance at going out in the finals to have some fun and entertain. Honestly, that's what I'd wanna do more than anything is be able to entertain all those crazy, die-hard fans out there. If I won, or even placed, would merely be the cherry on top. The cake, for me, would be having fun out there and entertaining the huge crowd that's always there every year for the fursuit dance competition.
As for your dancing. Gah! You. You, Phor, V, Kwik, Doryu (Misspelled, I'm sure; speaking of, I don't think I've found his FA so I'd love a link to watch him if ya can. Thanks.)...are just absolutely amazing. All of ya'll are, really.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing each and every dancer every time I go to FWA or AC. I can't wait for AC to get here and, already, I can't wait for next FWA.
If you're gonna be at AC again this year, I have a lil idea I wanna run past ya. I talked to Kwik about it at the Dead Dog and she seemed to enjoy it. Heh..I told V about it last year, actually...not sure if he remembers. An idea for the Masquerade. I can shoot ya a note if you'd like to hear it. ^^
Keep on showing us those great moves!!
I want to start training and practicing, but I don't know where to begin. P90X and Yoga have me in the best shape of my life, but hasn't done a thing for me trying to get coordinated with some moves.
Christopher Walken genuinely had some great steps in that Fat Boy Slim video (omitting the parts with the stunt double)
And he was easily in his 60's
With enough creativity and rhythm you can put together something rather grand.
I didn't know that the winner was Kwik, that explains a lot. I was actually telling my friend I was disappointed I didn't see them this year. Oops!
Saw your dance too by the way!
But during the dancing in fursuit panel, I was the girl sitting at the table next to the boy who told you were going to hollywood XD Still cracks me up how you reacted. You and
it was great to talk to you, we'll have to hang out at AC some C:
I go to. Everyone kept asking why I didn't compete. I wouldn't know what to do about the stage fright D=
You should really try some time.
FWA though... its getting tough to get in.
Maybe you can make a video and show me what you've got. I'd be happy to watch it. :3
Anyways, I'm glad I got to see you even if only briefly around the con. Congrats on the judging position, once again! We'll see each other again soon... sooner than you may think.....
