Once I have time again, I've been meaning to play them for myself.
I'm still waiting for a new one that's like SH1-3, Travis doesn't really cut the mustard for me, and nobody seems to want to show off Alex's adventure, so I dunno. :S
Thing is, it's actually not that bad, and the story was pretty darn good. But the game itself didn't even function. That's, oh... I dunno, pretty fuckin important in my book. :/ Lousy production team.
I like downpour for the atmosphere, but it doesn't have quite the same feeling the early silent hills had. Every transition in the other games was downright fucking errie. in this one it's just like "Oh fuck look I can see it happen, the world is burning up." That'd be fine, except would it be too much to ask them to put a fucking "pick up (name of object)" in so I can see what it is I'm actually trying to grab? I don't want to pick up a rock for the fifth time thinking it might actually be bullets. It went the opposite direction of the other recent silent hill game, homecoming, in that it got back on the right track with the town but made gameplay very lacklustre.
If they took the good elements from homecoming, and the good elements from downpour, they might have something worthy to being a successor to the original 3 Silent hill games.
What would be nice from Konami is to give the game back to the Silent Team and not to strangers that doesn't grasp the concept behind Silent Hill.
It's not that hard : a town that depict your inner mind.
The wrong thing with the games after SH4 it that they assumed it's a freaky town. So, the monsters doesn't match the character's mind, and the fear effect is gone.
Especially since the games turne into cheapo Resident Evil.
Hell, Silent Hill Originsin easy mode is harder than the first Silent Hill in Hard mode, WTF?
I didn't even tried Homecoming, it sounds totally disapointing to me...
Maybe when I'll find it for 5€ or something :/
I never imagined I'll say that from a Silent Hill.
I bough the PS2 new in 2001 ONLY to play Silent Hill 2! That says much on how the serie fell down to me.
