Vore! Why do you like it?
Okay! There’s a bunch of vore journals out there and all of them are very fun to read, so I wanted to make my own! Simply: why do you guys like vore? It’s a pretty broad question, and you can be as brief or detailed as you’d like!
I really enjoy hearing how people started to find something so bizarre like being devoured alive so appealing, or what some of their favorite fantasies about it are. It’s exciting to see just how diverse the community is on the subject. I’d love to see any images or stories that best capture the “essence” of what you enjoy about it, too. If it’s an artist on FA go ahead and pimp them out, not all of us may be following their work yet!
Here, I’ll go first!
My personal fascination began at a very young age, about four, and started with an obsession over specific scenes in movies. Some of my favorites growing up were Fern Gully, Jurassic Park, Dragonheart, The Jungle Book, and Anaconda, though you can argue vore certainly snuck its way into a ton of media back then—it’s hard to name them all here.
I didn’t actually find out what “vore” was until very recently, three years ago in fact. Until then I honestly believed I was completely alone in the universe. Think about it, how unnatural is having a huge desire to be eaten alive? I never regretted my fascination though, it has always been a huge source of inspiration for me—something fueling a creative bonfire my entire life.
I love it so much it’s incredibly hard to pick any kind of favorites. That being said, realism is very important to me. The more believable and relatable a scenario is, the more fascinating I find it. Ultimately, human prey and creatures capable of swallowing them whole are my preference. This explains why I love large snakes, sea creatures (ocean life tends to grow big), and of course the mythical dragon!
There’s a lot more to say but I want to see what you guys want to share! Feel free to discuss to your heart’s content your own experiences. I’d love to talk about others’ interests and see where they overlap and branch off. It’s very eye-opening, and why I joined a community to begin with! :)

That's a cool perspective, I've always loved the 'restriction' of the internals, but have never been much into bondage, so I've never made that connection between them!
To devour someone as they beg, kicking, struggling, and all for naught...
To know that you have consumed another living, sentient being..
To be able to overpower someone like that..it's sublime.
Although I can be empathetic to a predators desires and what they might like about the experience (enough to create and RP a predator character), most of what I like about it is completely from the prey's perspective. So, it'd be interesting to see what specific things you like, if you have any examples to share!
To enjoy controlling, dominating, and devouring their lives.
Over time, I've grown into the pred role. I like big preds, and sometimes unconventional preds, gobbling up average size anthros/scalies.
And I take it all to the conclusion. Digestion, disposal. The whole nine yards. Something about using furries as food and gluttony is VERY appealing to me.
I like how you enjoy the finality of it, too. As I said before, I really appreciate realism, even if something is gross or unpleasant. A lot of people don't like finality in their vore, but I can certainly appreciate the reasons to include it.
I'm mostly a dom when it comes to sex stuff, so I suppose it makes sense. I tried to make prey characters, but it didn't feel right.
Vore without finality pretty much does nothing for me. It used to be that any vore was pretty good, but that was over 10 years ago. Over time, my tastes became more refined.
I know some people don't like the finality aspect, but that's what I do. :P
Hard usually has a more harsh, awesome, effect. "Holy shit that guy just got bit in half!" Gore is usually included too, though it grosses me out (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, haha).
My interest in it exploded a few years ago, finding myself interested in all kinds of noms. The act itself can be over the top or very realistic, what sells it to me is the feelings involved. Nowadays I like it most when it's a means to convey admiration, trust, or affection.
I like how you latch onto the emotions and feelings involved in the act. I think those sell it for a lot of people, and in a way vore can almost be an alternate intimate act between two beings, completely separate from sex (though people do like bring the two together).
The vore scenario, whether it be violent or loving, says a lot about the characters involved. I gravitate towards prey or preds that care about the individuals involved, but I do appreciate the less kind situations from a technical stand point. As for being close, one of my favorite things is the pred can carry who they've devoured for a time, being close to them while they go about their business.
I do have a few species that're favorites for vore. I prefer there being some size difference so quadrupedal creatures like dragons or bears are good. Snakes are absolutely wonderful. Sea creatures... well, I don't really know many and since I can't write (creatively) nor can I draw yet... *Shrug* Most of my fantasies involve myself (as a human) being eaten by a larger creature and being digested (painlessly) and becoming a part of them. Sort of as a need to help them, to give myself to them and make them bigger and stronger or just... to feed them and keep them sated. It's a very intimate sort of thing.
Do admit though, big ol' draggy bellies are <3
I used to think what you did, too, but actually now that I learned to draw it became obvious that the people that add vore to cartoons and movies are more than likely very aware of it themselves. There are specific details us vorarephiles notice that normal people usually don't, and for those details to be there in the first place someone had to put them there.
Some examples are the Ice Age movies, and the first Anaconda! Also, a lot of great pro artists have very "telling" patterns, like Todd Lockwood (always draws the mouth first) and Neville Page (obsession with slimy flesh). ;)
Long story short: Loved it since as far back as I can remember. Same here with certain movies and art, etc holding an unknown fascination for me , particularly, the trigger that made me start imagining, writing and looking up vore was the first MIB movie with dearest Edgar's all too brief final scene.
I guess id be a prey, but im more a fan of soft, tame vore. Its hard to explain really, Its more about creating an intimate bond, about being as close as you can become to another being, about trusting each other utterly, about never even considering the idea of harming the other, its about wanting to protect those you hold dear, its about power plays and friendship, love, and...lets be honest here: lust.
Great stuff though, thanks for sharing :)
For me, tis a mix of several things. There's the whole power/flesh bondage aspect. There's also the animalistic side coming out. Taking full advantage of the food chain. There's also a bit of getting closer to someone. Having someone entirely inside you is absolutely the closest they can get to you (until some sort of digestive process kicks in...). Finally, there's the idea of risk. This is especially true when I'm facing off against another predator... who will win?
So there's a lot there.
When I was really young, I created stories/canons in my head for many things - two of which being a VERY vore-based intelligent-animal world, with two main "plots" - one where lions and hyenas went back and forth quite a bit (namely the moms swallowing the kids of the other species, with the prey cubs getting transferred to the other cubs' stomachs when they suckled their mothers) and one that was much more one-sided with a group of lions in some sort of symbiotic social relationship with some crocodiles (to the point where a young lion couple would go on a date by walking into the open mouth of a croc).
When I discovered Neopets, I really indulged in the Lupe-Chia pred-prey relationship, with my main pet Sky (and now is the first time I realized he had the same first name as the OCs I created a few months ago, totally unintentional lol) the Lupe often teasing his "little brother" Sonny the Chia by giving him a "full tour" - though any other Chias he ate were actually digested. I also really liked Kougra and Gelert and other pred-based Neopet species. There were also Pokemon and Digimon vore scenes I rolled around in my head a lot, as well as some Disney stuff.
(Also, similar to my vore fetish, I've realized that my underwear fetish was also well in-place long before there was any sexual association to it - as was my sexuality to a degree, as I enjoyed the idea of sharing a house (and even a large, tricked-out bathroom) with an anthro Sky the Lupe.)
When I first made all these realizations over the past few years, it seemed really weird to me, but having had time to think about it has really convinced me that these really must've been hard-wired into me or something.
I agree though, there's so many different types it's really hard to pick any one thing.
But the most fascinating part... is how different creatures have different structures all designed to do the same thing, to better capture and consume food items. I mean sure the set up for most creatures is roughly the same: mouth, teeth, tongue, throat, and stomach. Some also use claws in capturing and others use their whole bodies. But then you have a few that throw a monkey wrench in that whole thing.... take a look at a penguins mouth for example: mouth, tongue, teeth all the way down, throat has more teeth, and stomach. Sea turtles employ something similar as well. In fact quite a few sea creatures have interesting digestive set ups. But what about land creatures? Well cows of course have four stomachs. And snakes of course are rather stretchy... but then you have the pangolin. Long sticky tongue, strong claws, armored body, and no teeth in its mouth. That's cool and all since it eats small bugs like ants and termites... but then you look at its stomach... rather muscular, contains grit to help break down food (makes sense since again... it eats bugs and some live underground so I'd expect some sand and small stones in there) and... keratinized protrusions that also assist in the break down of its food... wait so you mean that IT HAS TEETH IN ITS STOMACH?! In other words... being stuck in an acid pit with moving walls would be terrifying enough... being stuck in an acid pit that has moving wall WITH SPIKES is just down right mean. And amusing.
Needless to say when I designed my character that is a mix of species including pangolin I had to include the stomach teeth as well as poke around at her other digestive anatomies to make it reasonable to have. Pretty much I made her mouth teeth ill equip to chew and have the stomach teeth to perform mechanical digestion for her. (was not a character I designed with that in mind... I decided on pangolin being a species before hand and researched a bit into them and stumbled upon the stomach "teeth." I giggled with amusement XD)
Autumnos also has a slightly abnormal set up in the mouth and gullet area. His stomach is normal though haha. Autumnos is one of my larger critters who just so happens to be gilled. As such his gullet is rather wide and has the internal gill slits right before the oesophogeal opening which I would imagine would have to shut pretty tightly to keep food going down, especially in water where something could just swim back out if it didn't shut after he swallows. His mouth has a semi-standard set up: upper jaw, lower jaw, teeth, and throat. But then he also has an outer jaw like structure... that also has teeth... and his tongue is contained in a specialized sheath in his mouth that it can be shot out of and used like a venom tipped harpoon. He can literally spear a victim with his tongue and inject a paralytic toxin and then pull them back to his mouth. Oh and the outer jaw structures have tusks.
I like different and abnormal mouths.
Unlike many others, I don't really care much about the details beyond that. Willing, unwilling. Cruel, gentle. Dominating, romantic. One special prey, or just seeing how many food-dragons you can stuff yourself with. It's all good.
It's a very special act, whether for its romance or its primal terror, and it's full of visceral feeling and imagery, with plenty of things to focus on: the licking, the swallowing, the weight, the tightness, the influx of mass and energy when the predator claims what's his (even with realistically slow digestion, there's no reason you can't play up the angle). And of course, whatever else the pred wants to do beforehand, all the while taunting about what good food their prey is going to make.
And anyway, you don't need a reason to love vore. Everyone loves vore anyway. Whether it's in cartoons, or monster movies, or all sorts of real life animals (those soft vore capable, specifically), or the little alligator mouth on your keyboard that prefers to eat the larger number of a pair, vore is all around us. You can't escape it.
Why does this T-shirt design exist? http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/8200/eatj.jpg
I also dig that shirt, nice XD
That's right Sprout... closer... closer...
:D
Well then... I guess you can remove all the cameras I had placed in your bathroom. They are kinda redundant now.
Like most, I too have had this strange fascination starting at a younger age, during middle school. Alot was indeed from several cartoons that had a much more harmless side to being swallowed whole. The one thing I do remember though, and its still is indeed my favorite movie scene to this day, was the one in Dragonheart. Always did have an obsession with dragons, as well as large reptilian creatures in general, though being a softy I liked them when there were not purely monstrous. Oh, they can always be dangerous to be around, no doubt! But I like the more sentient, interactive types that would prefer a conversation than just pure feral ferocity. Something that can feel emotion and give them in turn.
In terms of the fetish itself, I like it mostly for the oral aspects of it. I love the design of predator like maws, they were made for taking in large chunks of meat, swallowing it all down. I always liked tongues as well and the various types that are found in all kinds of creatures, my preference being large, somewhat flat types. I have always preferred creatures over humans/giants in this regard, I never really liked how it is usually interpreted. Just never clicked with me, it felt off, but hey what can I say? The act itself can be taken in many ways depending on the person, we all know that here haha! For me its a mix of many things all together; dominance, trust, safety, intimacy, consensual, play, somewhat dangerous, calmness, excitement. I like the more romantic side of this fetish, though I wont deny such dangers as those teeth! I also like the idea of going down the throat and landing safely in a small place tucked away. Digestion however is a no for me, never liked the idea, just not for me. Prefer very much to stay alive to go at it again and again~ I suppose its better termed as oral fascination with endosama elements. I always like the levels in games and places in movies where its all alive and fleshy, assuming it is safe. The idea scenario would go as foreplay, mawplay, swallow and relaxation. I also like the idea of internal sounds like breathing and heartbeats, I find those things quite calming and being very close and intimate, like a hug of sorts, only weirder haha! This may also be why I prefer the macro/micro interaction, since this seems to be the only relative way to achieve this, and the idea of exploring a giant living body was always a fun idea, even outside the fetish itself.
Like you, I thought I was of a very small group, until I went online and saw I couldn't have been more wrong. That this fetish seems to have been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years even! When I saw others also came from the same point and even the same movie that helped me discover it, it felt quite welcoming even! There are certainly more details that I can go into, but I think this sums it up nicely. Thanks for reading!
I'm too vanilla for my own good, I think. ^_^;
Played lots of prey scenarios in my head when I was younger. Usually involving talking preds and the magical ability to pop out of a stomach after being swallowed. Also tended to imagine being stalked and hunted. Never liked the prospect of digestion or macro-micro scenarios. Really, REALLY picky about hard vore.
As for why I'm drawn to it, who knows? Life is weird like that! But there are a few interesting parallels:
- in my previous findings, preds are usually dominant in relationships since prey are usually subs. True for me as well. Was also mentioned earlier.
- in actual ecology, there are always more prey organisms than preds.
- there are always more followers than leaders
- in the fandom, there are (at least seemingly) more subs than doms.
I like the pred side of things as well, and I think its more to do with having a strong interest in eating, as well as a general fixation on animals/beasts and animalistic behaviours and physical features. as a kid I often found myself thinking about situations and reenacting scenes where animal characters were eating. I tend to have more of an interest in the physical, predatory and even ruthless and cruel side of things at times from the pred's perspective, but the softer intimate side is present for me with it as well.
it took a while for things to fall into place for me with my interest in vore, I was aware of it as a fetish for some years and but didnt really "get" it and even at one point would make fun of it, before the little lightbulb went on...
But back on topic, do you think what you like about vore is shared with any of your other interests like fat or inflation? I could definitely see the connections there.
and yeah there's definitely things in common! big critters and full bellies are always loads of fun.. also it's pretty easy for a full vore belly to turn into the pred getting fatter :b Liquid inflation and vore can be combined in fun ways as well
I also like the idea of digestion, painless anyway - feeding someone, maybe a dear friend, with your very body <3
But I'm a softie :p I prefer willing, painless, and reforming. Though your pics have been so snug, and tight, and wet, that I love every single one!
I think there's also a connection to my like of drowning/quicksand - the same idea of being engulfed and smothered.
It's interesting that you bring up non-organic, shall I say, "vore" too. I've thought of these things over the years too...and decided against them, myself, because I prefer organic stuff. It's cool to think about though, where do you cross the line? What if you were being engulfed in a giant insect's cocoon, or wrapped up in spider silk? Stuff like that, like vore, but not quite!
However, I am necrophobic, so I would prefer things to not be over forever in that case. Even with that, I find the whole "poof I'm better" methods of reformation a little too...campy. So IC-wise Mike uses technology that, while it is pretty good, is subject to limits and issues of it's own. :3 Who says this has to be simple eh?
Some of the things that inspired my fetish are like what you talked about - The Jungle Book, this scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP5_EoEhwoE) from My Favourite Martian, Dragonheart and so on.
It's interesting how everyone seems to like different things about it. I only really like soft vore and being prey, and either willing or unwilling as they both have very exciting aspects. I really love tongues and licking, and being licked is an especially appealing aspect for me - I love the thought of being licked by a predator's huge tongue and played with in their maw. Originally my fantasies would end with being swallowed but digestion is beginning to appeal to me a little due to an RP partner's enjoyment of it.
There's also a very affectionate aspect to it, I love the thought of being swallowed alive by a predator I love or have strong affection for, and being kept safe inside them, and being in a tight belly, warm and wet and slimy. To begin with I'd fantasise about many predators and I kept dragons, my absolute favourite creatures, out of it because I felt they were somehow above that. But later I started to include dragons as predators in my fantasies and it was fantastic, the thought of being prey for such a powerful creature who could keep me very safe inside.
But yeah, I really love saliva and licking and maws. It's all very fun and exciting. :3
I guess the media does a great part. Society would say that the media for instance made our desires and feelings develop 'wrong'. I would say: Not wrong, just different.
Like you, I do not regret the way I am and I really love to put my fantasies into pictures. I would like to ask you something as well though: Do you sometimes draw something and then you don't share the pic, because you feel like it is too intimate? : x
Thank you in advance!
Also cause it is something to protect and hold lovedones close (without digestion)
With digestion it also has something noble for me as the prey gives up his life to nourish and power the pred with his life and body
I also love vore because of my fascination for the digestiv track, how it can absorb and transform all those materials into energy before disposing the rest which also is again energy for others (if you think at all the insects or plants which reuse it)
So just love it big :D
For me the best bit is usually in the aftermath of things, mostly the stuffed belly and often the idea of weight gain as well. For me realism is a bit important as well, though I tend to go for a bit of stretchiness I usually prefer it being a bit more plausible at least.
What i think is interesting is that it sort of began as a fetish I guess, but it's evolved into an interest as well. So vore doesnt really have to be sexually loaded in my view.
:)
Then in the dominating aspect I love being that easy meal. Too small and weak to escape or fight...no chance to get away. Easy meal.
The reason why I like it is my general fascination for predation, the thrill and the horrors associated with it. I blame my own predator instincts as well as my overall need for the creepy. Because of this, my type of vore is always cruel, it's never nice, not at all about love, protection, safety and those things. It's about actually eating the prey, which is painful, humilating and of course deadly.
For me, the kink aspect is only part of it. In it's very core, my predation interest is non-sexual. But when the participants are "right", it can be very sexy indeed. :D
I love vore for a variety of reasons. There is the physical of course, the visuals, the sensations all wonderful to me, weather there is pain or not. Being ripped up, or chewed up alive, or simply sliding down a tight gullet into a hot acid bath in a tight churning stomach, Is an unexplainable extreme want of mine; so much so that if I were to encounter a situation in which I were going to be eaten, (most likey hard vore,) I would likely not put up much of a struggle. If I were to encounter a very very large snake, for the possibility of soft vore, I would not fight at all, should it consider me to be its meal.
There is the mental aspect of vore that attracts me to it, the act of submitting to a predator, gives me a wonderful feeling I cannot describe other than the feeling of fulfilling my purpose. I suppose its in a way, power exchange. I like that. Being hunted is always a thrill, you know you will never get away, even if you escape, your predator will find you at some point and he/she/it will be all the more hungry and less inclined to grant you a cushy ride, intact, to the last place you will be recognizable as anything more than bone and mush.
Soul vore is the next level here, to give away your soul, or have it ripped away from you is just, a beautiful thing. You are at this point truly giving yourself (willingly or not) to your predator. Everything you are, your very essence, will be consumed by your predator. You are theirs for eternity. (provided you are not destroyed.)
There is the emotional aspect of vore. Love, fear, regret, dread, anticipation, joy, euphoria, apathy, sadness. Depending how the scenario plays out there can be any array of emotions experienced. I'm sure for myself the most common emotions are joy and love. Giving myself up to something better than myself, if even to satiate hunger for a few hours would give me more happiness than just about anything else I can think of.
*ramble ramble* I feel words are not sufficient to describe why I am a vore addict, and I feel I have not explained myself well enough or accurately enough here but it is the best I can do :/
Let me know if you would like clarification! =D
I like most aspects of vore, which mix in well with other fetishes... I like soft vore a lot, but I love hard vore too because I like gore/snuff. I like digestion also.
I wouldn't want to be a pred... always prey. The thought of being eaten (soft or hard), digested and, err.. disposed of is very appealing to me. :3 Being used to temporarily fill the belly of a hungry creature sounds fantastic to me.
