So I make music. <sarcasm> That's a pretty big shocker, I know! </sarcasm> And it just so happens the band I front is participating in a really amazing event tonight.
The PR company we work with has set up a benefit concert called Music Positive. Working with this amazing not-for-profit called BEAT (http://www.beatnyc.org/) and in partnership with Photography for Social Change and some other smaller organizations, they're throwing a rock show as a fund raiser and public awareness event and we're one of the featured acts!
BEAT is a pretty amazing organization. They raise funds to donate towards music education for underprivileged schools, and here in the USA (and especially NYC) where school budgets are being systematically gutted, it's nice to have someone behind arts education.
So yeah. I just wanted to gush about it a little, both because it's going to be an awesome, raucous rock show and because it's going to an amazing cause.
And in case anyone happens to be magically transported to NYC for the evening, it's at a place called the Alphabet Lounge on Avenue C and 7th Street. Show starts at 7PM. The Rose West (my band) plays at 8:40 for about an hour.
