With over 8760 hours in a year, why do we only care about the earth during just one of those hours? It's better off to reduce your usage through the entire year (Turning off lights when not needed and such) rather than turn off everything for an hour.

I'm all for good causes, but you can hardly call this a protest when it has become more of a yearly event.
