It could be a number of things, a dying Graphics card, another program interfering with the drivers for the card, the power supply starting to go bad on you.

The best thing to do if you are able to is to try using a spare you might have laying around for a few days or see if you can borrow one from a friend for a few days to see if you get the same issues or not with another graphics card in your computer.

Yeah usually if a LCD monitor is doing that, there's a good probablilty that capacitors on the power board is going bad. Look up LCD Monitor repair if you fell you have the skill with a soldering iron to replace them on the board. Of course this will require you taking apart the monitor as well.

Seems to me like a graphics card issue. If you're running off the Motherboard graphics card, and your motherboard has a PCIx16 slot you can go out and buy an external card. doesn't need to be expensive.
