Christopher Walken was the best part of this for me. Everything was just so melodramatic and he fit in perfectly.

I love Christopher Walken so much, but I was completely distracted through the entire movie by his hair. I have NEVER seen him in a movie with a decent haircut, lol! (And his speech patterns are terrible for Poe quoting, dear god. :| )

I had an overall pretty high enjoyment of the movie (though about halfway through, I had an allergic reaction to something and my face swelled up so I had to pause it to go wash my face and take some emergency meds and then resume it when the swelling went down enough that I could open my eye and then the last half is kind of a blur, lol) and would probably watch it again. However, I had read the book several years ago, and while the movie on its own is pretty decent, it seems kind of shallow compared to the richness of character development and interactions in the book (but if they put it all in, it would be a miniseries like Rose Red so I can understand them cutting a bunch out).

I'd recommend it to others, too. ^^


My roommate watched it with me and said they missed a perfect opportunity for some sort of Walken classic deadpan joke about running with scissors in that scene. XD

Well, I know Christopher Walken is a big joke now, like Nicholas Cage, but at the time of this movie he was more along the lines of Willem Dafoe or James Woods; someone who is a little creepy looking and acts off the beaten path but still someone you can take seriously.

I always take him seriously. I adore his work and his finely sculpted face. XD
Though I think the first thing I ever saw him in was "The Prophecy" which is a seriously creepy movie, so it's forever colored my view of him. ^^
