I Just heard this a week ago!

It's basically a watered down SOPA.

Nothing you do would be private. Everything would be in Corporation/Governments hands, regarding what you do. It also plays moreso in Business's hands, as it still allows for stripping of copyright material without making the business that unknowingly held it up get punished. Don't support it, hun; it's still looking to infringe upon our rights as citizens, just trying to dance around big corporations that shot down SOPA.

So still really bad, just not world ending bad like SOPA?

Could be world-ending bad if Government doesn't handle it right. All in all, it needs to get burned like SOPA. At the stake.

They're not gonna let SOPA go. It's maybe the 10th time they've tried to bring it back.

Just as with any extreme law, the first thing they will do is try to pass the whole thing, to which of course it will be slapped down. So what they will do next is break that law into smaller laws and pass those. SOPA is just one piece of a bigger attempt to get more power on the net. What they're trying to move to is taxing the net, completely control over what you do and can do, etc.

Also as a general rule of thumb, major newspapers/news shows are usually a bad way to get info on these sort of happenings. Assuming they even cover them at all, they'll almost always try and downplay any concerns that are brought up regarding the bills, due in large part to them being, for the most part, owned and run by the very people trying to get the bills passed.
