That's cool buddy. Well some people are somewhat stingy about commissions from you. But you are certainly an artist that is willing to accept any punishment an not acting like a baby because you had some lack of inspiration. Funny thing was though that the one who posted the AB was at the bottom of the portrait commission waiting list.

Hey man we all get busy believe me, just sometimes a quick note or email can make the customer get off your back about your bad communication, also makes them sure you haven't forgotten what was owed, I've gotten a shit load of commissions lol and some take over a year but I don't mind cause I will get a update via someway knowing that they haven't forgot about it

Also you can't put a timeframe on quality =P

Agreeing with  razorblitz &  Schism11 on this completely, and if you sent the people asking about status of commission a quick message, that will really help with the communication problems.

Sometimes it's hard to reply back saying that little progress has been made since last time, but I guess it's better than not saying anything at all. I don't want to disappoint but I probably do end up disappointing more people I ever thought I would @_@

honestly, we all get busy dude. i've been waiting for mine and not gotten word, but i've seen yer active, so as long as i know yer alive i can keep my patience :) sucks someone tossed yer name on there thoguh dude. hope they dont make it a huge issue though. :)

Problem was the one who complained had a whole bunch of people ahead of him, if anyone was going to put up a AB, it most likely would have been me or one of the other 4 who were on the top 5 people who's commissions was being done.

Saying that though, I know people have lives and I don't like bugging people about shit, but when your commission is almost 6 months ongoing, concern can be natural, or in other cases, rage but only for those who would jump to conclusions.

pretty much why i've learned to keep patient and just do checkups, both on behalf of the artist's well being and to keep communication open for anything in case, per se: (and have experienced) "my dad just died from cancer, i'llref--" me: "dude, just take yer damn time, if it's healing process, get through it and then come back to me once you can/not do the work when yer ready. i'm patient^^" it's always good when someone knows you actually listen and can take/give some time each way :) or so i think. :P

It was a pleasant surprise to see two of your doodles in my submission box before stumbling onto this journal; I thought to myself: "Oh, Orion's posting again! Looks like I'll have a lot to look forward to soon, but even if he only posts a little at a time, those fragments would be worth the wait--work as refreshing as his can certainly be accepted in strides." ^^

I know I've been rather quiet lately, but my admiration for you style hasn't wavered, Orion. I hope you've been well during your absence; I know you're concerned with your outstanding commissions and the client-communication (or lack thereof) tied with them, but please keep in mind that your well-being is an utmost priority: physical and emotional (if the latter at all implies). If anything, it's admirable that you've posted a journal revealing your sincere thoughts on the manner!

I understand that life can throw some unexpected twists at you sometimes. That's perfectly fine, everyone has to deal with that. But..... going for months without giving people updates on your queue or the wait list was probably not the best idea. Maybe in the future, you might want to consider taking less commissions at the same time and doing away with the "wait list" entirely. That would probably improve your turn-around and it would make communicating with your customers easier because you wouldn't have an enormous list to contact if something goes wrong or if life rears its head unexpectedly.

It's an LJ group used by artists to let other artists know about problem commissioners, but also to let commissioners know about problem artists. Sort of the communal equivalent of the BBB.

Oh I see, I don't commission people and I don't do commissions so that would explain why I never heard of it.

For what it's worth, in the past 9 months I've commissioned you twice -- once was a 3 day "delay", and the other was 9 days. FAR less than the 49 day average over the last gross of completed commissions I've purchased.

It was a huge let down, when I just saw that you read my note (which I sent over a week ago), while you take new commissions and finish them before the ones you owed for a couple of months now.
I've been waiting patiently and quiet for over 4 months and all I wanted were a few words that you're "still working on it" and maybe that i should check your journals for further information.

Seems like Kouga had the same kinda thing happening, and I guess he wasn't the only one, so it's no wonder that somebody got pretty upset and threw you onto AB.

I guess every commissioner knows that RL can eat a lot of time and keep you from getting stuff done. It really is no problem at all, if you take a month or ten to finish a commission.... as long as you keep at least a minimum of contact, especially when you already got paid.
Same goes for taking new commissions.. no old commissioner will get upset about that, as long as you stick a little to your que and finish the older stuff first.

Dont' worry about it, as long as you get them done it's alright, we all got lives apart from drawing *hugs* take your time ^^
