I tend to follow that rule. But TPs isn't a big decision, so I'm there a lot. I don't do porn because excessive rereading due to editing makes me immune to it and I can't objectively judge the hotness.

I have this problem where I make characters, get very involved with them, and then for one reason or another, I’m done. Or I spend a lot of time looking for the rp and never get it. These situations make me feel bad and / or depressed. Which is why rule 2 helps me avoid getting into them.

I use the "have two characters" method. One is female and more statistically likely to net random sex RPs; one is male, more "me" and these to meet folks I already know or to get with folk the other character met and cnvinced to go for something new. Not a perfect system but it has been alright for me.
