Interesting. It seems that a study on women found that their visual cortex was less active while watching lorn than a regular movie. It implies that a person's brain relies less on this region and more on arousal. Data on men didn't appear to be reliable.
Whenever I see an outstanding scientific claim, I tend to approach it with scrutiny and follow it up until I've found the actual "studies" the claims were based on. This is one of the few cases that have actually panned out.

It appears to be real. Watching explicit porn can suppress a woman's primary visual cortex. How odd.
