Best Ways to get Watchers
What sites to use to stream
What hardware to get
Ok, first on the list, best ways to get watchers. This one... I'm not so great at, but then my art isn't OMG AMAZING so it's mainly just friends. Though, I will say watching other people's streams and being active in conversation and making friends there that in turn come to watch you is a good practice. It's sorta like networking in the business world, it's all in who you know. I have seen artists that are just getting started do the whole thing of offering a free sketch or something of the like in a contest sort of thing. If you've ever been to an event were they gave you a number at the entrance and they draw from a hat the winning number in the middle of the day, a raffle it's called, then you know the idea. It's all personal preference and what works for you.
Second, what sites to use. This largely depends on what you are drawing. If it's not adult work, you can use sites like livestream (which has a wonderful little program you can download called the ProCaster that manages your stream, chat, sound settings, etc very easily) https://secure.livestream.com/myacc...../launchchannel to register for an account. Or UStream http://www.ustream.tv/login-signup?.....f=%2Fdashboard is used too. I know many artists use livestream and do adult work, if you do, understand if caught doing adult, you'll get banned. I'd say make your channel private with link only access to the page. :) I do G to PG17 (artistic nudes) so I don't have to worry about it, but I still made mine private and I don't save the broadcasts. There are other sites you can use, but those are the ones I know. OH! And if you are doing digital and showing your screen, you'll need to download ManyCam http://www.manycam.com/ for sites like livestream. And join.me https://join.me/ (basic is what you'll want), there is no audio on join.me but your watchers can see your screen at the same detail you do so it's a rather fantastic, and small, program. What I personally use is: ManyCam; LiveStream Procaster; and Join.me
As for hardware and such. You'll need a microphone if you're going to do audio. Livestream lets you broadcast several sources at once so I do both voice and my speakers (while I wear headphones) so my watchers hear me AND my music clearly. I am guessing you know about art programs and have your own preferences on that front, but if not and you want something that's free, I'd suggest Open Canvas. I personally use PaintToolSAI, but you do have to pay a little for that program, not much though. And some people use Photoshop to great success. If you're doing digital, you should already have a graphic tablet so I'm not going into that.
That's all I can think of, let me know if you need anything else. I didn't have any problems working out the programs I use, so you should be alright. :)
G'luck!
