You shouldn't ever be X minutes away from saving anything. Save every stage of it, flat color one whole section, SAVE, finely adjusted a line, SAVE. :I

I know.... I get in a groove though....

also, it usually only takes me an hour or so to do lines.

Crap, I was thinking of buying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended Student and Teacher Edition," and now i'm scared of what new glitches that will bring. What version of Photoshop were you using?

For the record, GIMP 2.6.11 freezes all the time if you have Windows7, so don't do that. I love Gimp but I can't risk losing more unsaved artwork due to freezing or dealing with the weird glitching "invisible" tools.
I've been experimenting with the free program of SAI, but it doesn't have the same options as Photoshop or Gimp. :P

So, i'm in the same Program-Frustration boat as you.
I hear the new Photoshop CS6 has a "background save" feature that hopefully will save every change you make. It's worth looking into it.

I've got CS3. I don't know enough about it to do background saves and all that, so if anyone knows how, that'd be cool.

Apparently any version before CS6 (CS-CS5) doesn't have a "background save" option. CS6 will be released on May 7th 2012.
