So. Home Depot are dicks.
Well, more accurately, California legislation makes them have to be dicks.
See, there's this law that has a yearly hiring quota for big box retailers like them, pretty much demanding that they constantly be hiring people. Since once hired, people tend to stick around and, y'know, not be sucked into the void, this means that there is a vast surplus of employees. So what do they do?
Hire you, keep you about thirty days, then 'terminate' your employment. What they did with me was switch me to temporary employment rather than full or part time, so at the end of thirty days I was out the door. This is evidently what they do most of the time-they hire a bunch of people all at once, keep them for thirty days so they're on the record enough to satisfy the legislation, then fire them all, maybe keeping one or two if they actually have an opening for them.
So, I'm unemployed again. Gah. Looking for work again, but I'll be taking commissions (once I get photoshop set up) again, and I'll be trying to make plushies and knit things to sell on my etsy, and perhaps writing a book. I know who the characters are, I just don't know what they should DO. Bargle.
In lighter news I had enough saved up to get myself a laptop. It's nice and sleek and new and it's PURPLE!! Like, Twilight Sparkle purple! GYEEE!!!!
*cough* I'm okay.
