Nabyn, GaiaOnline, call to Call of Duty fans, other stuff.
It's pretty much said and done that I've moved on from FA, at least for now. I come back once or twice a week to look through my submissions inbox and check for messages, but for all intents and purposes, I'm pretty inactive. I haven't felt like drawing anthropomorphic art at all unless it had to do with Skyrim, and regardless I didn't want to post it here. I think I'd like to keep it that way for a while, as I've found other art sites that are more comfortable and user friendly, but I've got some news about where you can find me to chat, play games, or view future art.
First off, I got an invite to Nabyn! You can find me there by the same username, and pretty soon I'll have all my ducks in a row and upload art, customize my profile, etc. Linkage here:

Thanks to
freezinghot for supplying that invite. I've been excited about Nabyn for a while now, not only for being a broader-audience site than my tumblr gallery, but also the no porn rule. :|
I like that the site is very character oriented and has several submission options and folders. It's very open to up and coming and learning artists, and is also a great place to get critique, so I hear. I look forward to utilizing the site.
You can also find me on GaiaOnline, same username. I decided to pick it back up after not touching my account for 8 years, and I'm having fun with it again. I'm only on the forums once a week or so, but I do have an art shop that I check on each night and can be found loitering occasionally while I work on commissions.
Secondly, I've been playing multiplayer games on Steam a bit more often, seeing as how I actually own a few now. My username on Steam is the same as everywhere else, and you can friend me and sometimes find me playing either Killing Floor or Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3. Speaking of CoD, my circle of coplayers has been looking for more people to team up with to play free for alls, seeing as how we're all still pretty much noobs. As of right now, I've owned the game for all of two days and my friends no longer than a week. Basically what we're looking for are some non-cheating players and friends of around the same skill level to give each other a boost and gain some levels instead of tossing ourselves straight into the hax-ridden realm of multiplayer hell.
We'll welcome anyone who owns the game, even if you're a higher level. Just promise to be patient with us while we fumble around dying and also promise not to use game hacks. We frown on that sort of thing.
Killing Floor is actually a lot more fun in my opinion, but it can be stressful as some of the not-zombie monsters are pretty disturbing. O_o
Well, two specifically. The Scrake and the Fleshpound haunt my dreams.
I'm not used to playing FPS games on a PC, so my learning curve so far has been pretty non-existent. I haven't played any of the single player campaign yet, so doing that might help eventually.
Finally, ignoring my comment about the new thumbnails, I know my last journal was a complete downer. I'm still recovering from the loss of the dog that was probably the single most important thing to me in the universe, but I'm carrying on. For the longest time, I didn't want to be social at all, do anything like art or writing, and while he was still alive and we were debating whether or not to have him put down, there were times that I honestly thought I didn't want to live in a world without him in it. It's still pretty hard, and I think about him every day. I'm just trying to get through it the best that I can and move on.
If at any time, you thought I was ignoring or snubbing you, I apologize. I didn't mean to. The last few months have been rough and I'm just now coming out of that bleak shell after weeks of being barely able to bring myself to keep in touch with the two or three online friends I have been talking to regularly. I'm actively trying to make myself more available to all of my friends instead of a select few.
In regard to FA, I'll continue to be here looking at submissions and checking my messages a few times a week. I'm just not sure about submitting right now. Any major updates in my life will probably get a journal, but I'll more likely post things on Nabyn now and either forget or not bother to here.
Thanks everyone.
It's been fun.

FA+

I mostly got over my fear of Scrakes pretty quickly, but I'm still deathly afraid of Fleshpounds. They seem to always come after me, whether I was the one who pissed them off or not.
I dunno what your funds are like, but Killing Floor is only $20 on Steam right now. Unfortunately you just missed a half-off sale on CoD. It was only about $25 last weekend, but it's back up to full price now. The sale was the only reason I have it now lol.
What sort of games do you have?
Gaia's not for everyone, and I was reluctant to return at first, but I find that it's a nicer community all-around than most places on the internet, and as long as you stay out of the chatterbox, you avoid most of the trolls since that sort of thing is actually punished in the regular forums.
I prefer Nabyn to every other art site I've used so far. One thing I will say against it is that it's been in Beta forever, and I think ultimately it's hurting them. Yes, they're keeping people out who aren't actually artists and keeping it from turning into more of a social site, but they're also limiting their membership, making it difficult to either find artists or get exposure for your own stuff. If they were to actively invite more artists, whether they find them here, on DA, on personal websites, etc, this problem would be solved, but from what I've seen they're extremely stingy with invites. I think once they're out of Beta, the site will be more fun.
Oh, I love Gaia, I was a devoted member for several years, and while the Cash system rubs me the wrong way and there was a pretty hurtful fallout between me and my best friend over guild leadership, I primarily just don't have the time to engage in roleplay. When I get back into it I'll either revive the guild I still have or rebuild it into something new.
Yeah, it looks pretty sweet, combining the best aspects of DA and Concept Art and without FA and IB's little porn problem. I'd love to try it honestly, but they don't seem like they're going to change the invite system any time soon, and they don't allow enough of them for any real growth. They can keep it invite only, just make inviting more easy, I think most artists have the sense to understand that they should only invite other artists.
