I was in this place when I was younger. I wasn't cast out because I was gay, but I was still cast out. I found out later that most of the walls of hate were in my own head that I had put up myself. I like to believe that being cast out was the bricks, and in an attempt to defend myself I built the wall. When I learned to love myself is when I saw the world change.

I think I'm lucky though. I had a good family that would never judge me negatively. Without that support I wouldn't have gotten anywhere.

I don't know if that support can be replaced by either friends or an accepting community like this, but I like to think it can. I know I got a lot of help from ADISC when I was active on it.
