I was going to add "Electric Boogaloo" to the title but not only is that an overplayed reference, I also didn't have room.
kamunt here once more, this time with no college left to suck out his soul! We're had plenty of updates in the past month-ish since I last updated, so let's not waste any time getting to them!
First off, Hecarim. Hecarim hadn't yet been released as of last journal, but the update has come, and the 'taur is here to stay!
Strangely enough, I haven't been seeing very much of Hecarim on the Fields of Justice, despite the fact that he's a relatively solid champion. Pretty balanced all around, and his ganking potential is immense, especially with his ultimate. I've seen some sick combos where a Hecarim will use his speed-up ability, ult over and enemy champion to fear them, then ram into them to push them back into his laning partners. Fierce. But the Hecarim players I've been seeing are mostly pretty mediocre. Is it due to a lack of skill, or is he underpowered, or is his gameplay style just not very relevant in the current metagame (which I'm exceedingly tired of)? I've played him and I like him, but I'm not the most proficient at melee DPS champions. What are y'all's thoughts on him?
Next up is the long-awaited spectator mode! And boy, is it fancy. I was honestly expecting little more than just a time-delayed match, but all of the bells and whistles they've added are really impressive, in my opinion. It's so shiny, too!
So, what do you all think? I haven't honestly done much spectating...but a lot of my friends have spectated me! It's good for an ego boost, if nothing else. :P The few matches I have spectated have been fun though. The director thing is pretty darn cool. Makes me able to be lazy and still enjoy! I just wish the load time wasn't as big as if you were playing yourself.
Last but certainly not least is Varus, the Arrow of Retribution. When I compared Varus to Ashe last time, I wasn't ACTUALLY being serious, but he's got a slow, great range AND an epic crowd-controlling ultimate!
This guy is a big jerk, but I don't believe he's overpowered. He's just got a lot of great abilities. I'm not sure about giving him an ultimate that can snare an entire team, though... For a ranged carry, that's a little silly. Ashe is indeed the only other champion like that. CC is a valuable team utility, and on a ranged carry (and especially with such a large potential range) it's especially powerful. I've seen some great Varus players as well as some mediocre ones, but being able to land that Q is essential. And without a damage falloff, boy, does it sting! I fear the day someone starts putting Taric, Sion or Blitzcrank with a Varus at bottom lane. That powerful stun means it's all but impossible to escape a well-timed arrow from Varus, and Blitzcrank means that no matter where an enemy positions themselves, they are in danger of taking damage, since Varus' arrow travels through creeps. What do you guys think? I know a lot of people think he's overpowered, but you know what they say--any champion who kills you is overpowered. :P
Okay, I lied, this is last but not least: the not-so-rumored HD update for League of Legends. Summoner's Rift is getting a complete texture re-haul to bring it up to par with other MOBA games. I was linked some of the leaked photographs last night, but as I'm presently on my laptop, I'm unable to find them again. If anyone has the links, I'd be more than happy to throw them up here so you all can get a preview, too! I saw that Ashe is getting all-new textures, as well. While this doesn't really affect gameplay, it certainly will make things look more shiny. And furries love shinies, as we all know. :P
I've got a lot of updating to do on the furry summoners list, so I'll try and get to that as well as go through everyone's shouts! For now, this is
kamunt wishing you all some happy summoning! May your creep scores be high and your deaths be few!

Hecarim is cooool. I love Centaurs and stuff, but he feels like a tank who specializes in chasing people down instead of slowing them or locking them up too much. Fiora was the same way for melee AD carry, and I feel like this style of character is too easy to shut down. so far, CCs win games, and chasing too deep is usually what gets a person killed. :x
Varus is amazing though, I bought him as soon as he was released. he has great range and good sniping abilities, but he's really slow, making it difficult for him to get away if he's being chased... Just take advantage of his range and you should be fiiine.
http://i.imgur.com/eLDXk.jpg I think this is Ashe's new model, by the way. This is the only one I've seen. :x
That Ashe model looks pretty darn good, though! I approve. :D
That being said, he is a great jungler. Especially if you are on a team that can coordinate and make someone waste their flash before he comes in, or especially when you realize flash has a much longer cooldown than his ult - might take two tries, but you can definitely punish people for pushing their lane out, thinking that surviving you once makes you safe.
And then there's all those people that don't use flash or won't think to use it...
Varus is amazing. He's like the AD version of Nidalee. Unfortunately, his weakness is getting close enough to use his abilities besides his q will get him in optimal face rape range. But it's not like a bajillion other champs don't exist that share that same weakness.
Personally, I want to see a team with Varus + Nidalee together. That would be wicked. But Varus is good for more than just his range. He can make a great pursuit and retreat control too. And he makes sustained defense in teamfights just... nearly impossible. Play Smart! Or die!
Varus/Nidalee could be pretty deadly. But Varus' Q penetrates, unlike Nidalee's Q. The poke would be great, but you'd have to have that setup for it to really work that well!
I dunno. I've seen him be really, really effective. He is a great trap and kill on top of having his Q. But it takes real team coordination to do something with him.
