I'd really like to look into joining in on a research trip with Earthwatch. I have a biology degree and have worked alongside animals for years, an this sounds like something I'd fit into quite well! Are you on the marmot project as a scientist or joining in to learn from them and help? :) And if you've been involved with this group before as a scientist, may I ask what initiatives you took to start a research expedition? I'm very interested in this :) (Sorry for the bombardment of questions, haha.)

I'm not a scientist. I just go on Earthwatch trips as a volunteer to help witb the research. To be a volunteer all you need to do is sign up for a project on www.earthwatch.org, and send them a bunch of money. It's basically a vacation where you get to help out with the research (and a lot more interesting than sitting around on a beach). Starting your own project would be something else entirely!

I've not done this project before, but I have been on other Earthwatch trips (lemurs, meerkats, hyenas, sea otters, giant otters, and bats).
