Ah! Something in my ballpark!!

So, really, the reason I made my personal suit is to express myself and my character more. I had seen Lakota, at first, as a simple character that's chill and relaxed, but after working with his personality more, he is now bouncy, cute, and frisky when the time is okay and by building my suit and wearing it, it allows me an avenue to express my more "fun" side. It's also a way to make people smile and entertain children as well.

As for explaining it to your mother, just tell her why you want it more than anything and what it means to you, as an individual. Don't base your reason off of what everyone else will tell you, because there is no right or wrong way to describe it to your parents. Hell, my parents found my suit one day and after about a month of slowly coming out that I'm a furry, my dad thinks it's adorable and my mom is slowly finding it awesome as well. I built my second headpiece recently and my brother thinks it's an amazing piece of work and so do my parents. They are proud that I have found a way to work on art and told me I have hidden talent.

So, overall, it comes down to what it means to you and just telling your mom "this is what it is to me."

Thank you. I feel the same with Beta. Beta is my hyper childish side, and I long so much to go to childrens hospitals or something, and make kids smile with me. I found someone who is doing an amazing partial raffle, and if I get it, the partial will only be 150 and its a dream come true for me. I want to do this more than anything.

You should tell her exactly that. Our local group does the occasional volunteer event and we used to go to our local zoo, which was honestly some of the best times I've ever had suiting. For every potential idiot who thinks you're a freak and makes fun of you for it (a random person at one such event was overheard by one of our suiters that we only did it to touch little children. DOUCHE.), there are literally a thousand more who are so freaking happy to see you, whether they're little kids or fully-grown adults.
