Depressing.

If I didn't have to earn a steady paycheck I think I'd be a full time comic artist and produce a 22 page comic every couple of months. But cripes, reading comics with great art and story lines, like mouse guard, is just depressing because I'm never going to be that good. I'm in one of those kind of "my drawings suck, I'm wasting my time, why even bother" phases, that I don't talk about much but they do happen.
I do draw every day, even a sketch or two, not everything gets done enough to even qualify as a WIP, but I plug away at it.
I'm forty, and my career has stalled, and my drawing is pretty much as good as it was in 2003-04, and I'm rambling and it's late. Yes perhaps I'm fishing for compliments, I'm allowed to do that once in awhile. :3 Goodnight

Ah, but your fine. Just keep at it.
and now rise your head and be proud of your self.
That's actually one of the reasons I got into writing stories. Because I don't have to draw what I'm seeing in my mind in order to give it life, you know?
All you can do is practice. Learn new techniques and practice at your own pace. A lot of people online actually make tutorials on how to draw things in certain styles or how to draw things like arms and legs, car, creatures, scenery, even diapers. You'd be surprised what you'll find. Also, they make art books that show you how draw different things. They even have books on how to draw comics and cartoons. But, just because you have the illustrated instructions in front of you doesn't automatically make you a master at it. You need to use those tutorials and practice. It's a lot easier said than done, but not impossible. I have like 5 different "how to draw manga" books, and I still can't get the style quite right yet. look at how I draw hands sometime XD. But I'm working at my own pace, and I'm slowly improving.
My point is this; you just need to keep practicing. No one just magically becomes an uber-awesome artist. Being able to draw the way we want to is something that we need to earn, and the only way to do that is to keep working at it. Consider talking with friends and ask about the tricks they use to draw:). Swap ideas with other artists, or even take a class:). There are endless ways to improve, You just need to do it however it is that works for you. You'll see. You just gotta keep at it:).
Sorry that was kind of long. I feel like that a lot, so I wanted to try and offer whatever advice I could is all.
Second; I remembered that an artist/author is their own worst enemy. I lost count of how many times I've brain stormed and shut myself down by saying 'That's stupid.' Don't be overly critical of yourself. If you keep comparing yourself to other artist this'll just get worse and worse, trust me on that. You're a great artist, LEAGUES better than me and many others I've seen around the site and I'm sure plenty of your watchers will agree with me there. Don't try to be the best, you don't have to be, no ones competeing here. You have fans (1775 according to your userpage) don't forget that. How many times has someone commented 'keep up the good work' or words to that effect?
....I can't think of any more profound-y stuff to say so I'll just end there. I hope this helps even a little bit. Best of luck cargo *hugs*
I will say that your artwork, while not perfect, is still superb and a worthy addition to everything. Your writing, too. It's a unique style, a little cartoony, and a lot of fun. I don't have much more than that, I'm just...commiserating, I suppose. But still. <3 woozle.
Hope that all makes some degree of sense. And in any case, hope you feel better :)
Makes me want to try to get back into the drawing habit myself... if I can ever get off my lazy butt :)
In life, we tend to remain in situations that re less than pleasant or fulfilling for all kinds of reasons. There are points in life when we have to review our dreams and what we want for ourselves and think whether we are still heading in the right direction and plot a new course. You want to draw comics. Go for it. If you can't make a living from it, pursue a career that leads to financial freedom. What will be the first small step you're going to take?
Besides you've got some great art here and I'll say this your one of my favorite artist and writers. Seeing something of yours usually gets me smiling, provides a bit of fap material, and also tends to get me thinking and provide some inspiration. So don't sell yourself short.
Also, I like your drawings. They taught me the word "splorch".
