What the Fur, report.
So, What the Fur has come and gone for another long year.
First off, this was my first con where I was in my fursuit! This was a complete blast, although I didn't get much time to go suiting since I was so busy doing more at the con and travelling around Montreal!
But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
----
Thursday (Day -1)
My bf
NeonFire and I drove over to Montreal leaving from Nova Scotia early on Thursday morning. I woke up with a very painful neck, and couldn't finish packing all the bags myself. Ugh! A great start to the convention.
I had to keep my head twisted to the left so that I didn't feel any amount of agony, try that on the bumpy highways of Canada. Let's just say that was not fun. Even 400mg of Ibuprofen couldn't make the pain go away! :(
Once we got to Fredericton we stopped to fill up for gas, at the same time I walked to a pharmacy holding my head at a horizontal angle as I walked. I sure did get a lot of weird looks! haha.
Anyways, the pharmacist told me to get some Muscle Relaxers with Ibuprofen in it (Extra Strength), and also gave me a free sample of a rub-on muscle pain reliever called Voltaren. It worked wonders, but I still had a lot of pressure and stiffness in my neck.
One unfortunate side effect however, was drowsiness. It led to two options, take the medication and sleep through the convention. Or, don't take the medication and be in pain for the convention.
I decided I will only take it once the pain got to an unbearable point, which is what I tend to live by anyways.
Once we got up to the hotel we relaxed, and decided we had to go out and get foodstuffs from a somewhat close by IGA.
We got back, and put everything into the mini fridge as we waited for the other room mate to show up.
NearPup being that other room mate :)
Luckily, after the drive up, the next morning I woke up with a little stiffness, and a fair amount of pain, but I could put up with it, and I did.
I didn't have to take anymore medication for the rest of the convention. My neck is still a little sore and stiff right now, as I right this journal, but I'm glad it went away for the most part.
----
Friday (Con Day 1)
When we woke up everything still hasn't started.
We decided to run out to the mall for coffee and breakfast, and also stop by the IGA before we went back to the Hotel. We had the intention of arriving back early so that we could be in the line, and get our badges before the Dealer's Den opened.
Unfortunately, we were very slow and had a long line up to stand in. A brutally slow moving line up at that.
It made for a hard time, but when we finally made it into the Dealer's Den we took a look around.
Saw some great, most adorable art by
o-kemono there, and I wanted to get a badge from him quite badly. But I decided to wait until Saturday to do that. I did decide that I had to start a traditional badge from
wallaby since my very first badge came from her, and was it ever adorable.
I was a bit disappointed to see that
kimba wasn't there, which meant I wasn't getting any plushies at this convention! Bah, how can I continue tradition with this happening :)
She certainly did deliver this year again, taking my idea and making it look exactly as I intended, no wait, even better!
Friday went by quite quickly, and after a quick stop through the Silent Auction room we met
kanakitten which was quite an interesting chat!
I saw a piece of art I wanted to bid on, but I decided to wait until the last day to bid on it, since I hoped I would be the only one to bid on it :)
neonfire decided to bid on 2 items right then and there though.
We would continue to check the room to make sure that his items weren't bidded on past him.
and some time to also chat with Kana.
Shortly after meeting Kana and seeing some of her art on FA ((My favourite of hers being from
kalida)) we ran into a friend that
NearPup met at an earlier time (during FE). So I got an easy introduction to
DanRaccoon (Made my life easier at least).
I chatted to him a few times throughout the con, and hope to see him at more cons later on!
We went out to eat at a place where Near and Neon got Pho. I decided to get Chicken, since I have a hatred of vegetables and feared exactly what may have been awaiting in the mysterious dish of Pho. It looked, and tasted quite good actually, I probably would have enjoyed it more than my handful of thin, season-less chicken slices.
To finish off the night Near, Neon, and I all went to play games in the games room. Where we ran into
LoopyWolf we got to chat with him a bit here and there throughout the con of course. Near getting more of the chatting in due to my epic shyness. :)
We played Munchkin, and Fluxx, as well as a few other quick and fun games!
----
Saturday (Con Day 2)
My first day fursuiting was this day, I went down early in suit and walked around a bit. It's quite a different feeling when being in suit at the convention. I don't know if I can quite describe it.
First thing I saw when I finally got into the dealer's den was that a plushy table was being set up! Yay! I saw an adorable Red Panda that I absolutely had to have, but they weren't set up yet and they couldn't sell it. I decided I would have to come back.
After taking off my fursuit and continuing on, I had the chance to go back down when I wasn't in fursuit, and luckily the plushy table was all set up and open for business.
I first ran over to see if my badge from Wallaby was completed, and it was! It was so adorable! (I'll be uploading a picture/scan of it soon).
Before leaving I decided I had to get the red panda plushy before it was too late. Seeing as it appeared to be the only one there (apparently there were two though, one of which was already sold). I got it right then and there, along with the most adorable cloud leopard.
We decided to run over to the auction room and check how the auctions were doing. They were closing that nigh, and thus if we could be top bid we won the items we wanted.
At the very last minute I bidded on the item that I wanted, so I won that! :)
Neon also won both items that he wanted. (I'll get to what these are at the very end).
This night we went out to eat at 3 Amigos a Mexican restaurant, we got to go with
DanRaccoon and a friend of his, whom I missed the name of. It was a lot of fun having foodstuffs with them and chatting it up. I had the Mexican seasoned/spiced half rack of baby back ribs! It was really quite good.
After finishing food Neon and I had to go and do some errands, getting money from Scotiabank.
When we finally arrived back at the Hotel, exhausted we crashed upstairs and went to sleep. It would have been nice had we got to play some more games, and gone to the dance to see
potoroo's set, but we were both just so exhausted that night.
----
Sunday (Day 3)
I went fursuiting around a lot more on this day. Neon was attempting to get me to do the fursuit games, but I was weary and didn't want to do it this year. He let it slide, on the road back up to the room so I could take a small breather I was cornered by
Stripes a person whom we met last year at Feral! as he stayed in our cabin.
He cornered me, and got me to enter the fursuit games, pure trickery! Evil, evil trickery.
Neon and I decided to pick up our items that we won at the auction room, and take one of our last trips through the Dealer's Den. I saw another adorable plushy that I couldn't resist! Damnet! An adorable Lioness that I had to get as well.
Finally the fursuit games began, and I have to admit, it was tonnes of fun. I guess it was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be, and I can't wait to do it again next year!
So thanks to
Stripes for convincing me to go to them. But damn you
NeonFire and
NearPup for not trying to convince me harder =).
After the games, and going upstairs for a long needed breather it was goodbye time for Near, as he had to head back home that night.
Already one man down, but the convention had come to a close anyways.
Neon and I decided to go out for a walk around Montreal one last time, and we walked for quite some time stopping in a few of the stores to see what was happening.
----
Overall, to re conclude what I said at the beginning the con was great! I had tonnes of fun, made a few friends, chatted with a few people, and was a lot more outgoing then I was in the year before.
I can't think I could of asked for a more enjoyable convention, and I really can't wait for WTF 2013!
----
What we
NeonFire and I won in the auction -
NeonFire won Kanthara's (GOH) old banner which she had during WTF 2011, and he also one a beautiful painting by
Soryane
I won myself an original from
hbruton which was great looking.
I'm more than glad I won that, and I'm sure Neon is more than glad he won what he won. Of course, now he has to find a place to hang them! XD
----
My plushies that I got are all adorable as ever.
Firstly the red panda, who is conveniently named "Fire Fox". Yeah, what kind of nerd would I be if I didn't name him "Fire Fox"?
Secondly, the cloud leopard got his name after he wanted to attack my bf who was laying in bed playing Binding of Isaac, that name being "Pounce"
Lastly, the lioness got her name in the car, as I wanted to think harder about it. She didn't get the greatest name, but I like it. That being "Topaz"

Finally, if anyone is still actually reading this monstrous con report then please know that cookies taste delicious.
Also, if I ran into you at WTF! Hi :)
