Going postal!
Had a bit of fun at the Post Office today. I shipped out Grizztof Grunwalds DTD to Don't Hug Cacti.
First, I had to explain the name "Yes, that is the name of a company. Don't Hug Cacti, they build hand made costumes." Someone in the line then stated, " Well! Now we can't hug cacti, can't have any fun!" I followed with, "Well, the end result of what's in this box, will be much more fun to hug than cacti!"
Then I had a bit more explaining to do. Fursuits, the duct tape dummy, the process of building suits. "This will be turned into a 6'+tall anthropomorphic dog, his name is Grizztof." Then more questions. Keep in mind, I'm at the counter of a post office, people are there to do postal things. More questions. I mentioned the art, entertaining people, going to parks, visiting hospitals, generally going out, making people forget about the troubles of the day. I added, "I have a full skunk suit myself, I even have a tail" then I waved my skunk tail key chain. The counter staff all had a good laugh, so did the people waiting in line.
With just a bit of talking, I took the drudgery of an afternoon at the post office, turned it into a small happy moment. This is why I love doing what we do!

It's always nice when people have a good reaction to fursuiters. =)
I got a little uncomfortable with my postal carrier asking personal questions about the stuff I ship out of my house all week. She was wondering about my book business because her brother in law needed a job and I'm like don't harvest my business info... sensitive business secrets and all that. Generally the post office people are awesome and do a great job and I'm glad they are there.
