Conan, what is best in life? Art supplies.
So, this weekend I got some art supplies.
I picked up a package of Copic multiliners, since I've seen everyone and their ma raving over Copics on FA. Are the liners any good? Anyone care to share their experiences? I think Lilttledoll uses them, but other than her, I don't know of anyone who actually has them, just people who drool over them. I've been using Microns, and they bleed a lot, which is fail. I hope the Copics are at least a little better.
I also picked up a Tria for filling in large black areas. I am already in love with it. It shore got a purty mouth.
I still suck at inking with my wacom, so I'm going to ink traditionally for a while still. I'm practicing with drawing and inking on my wacom by redrawing girls from these Japanese bondage pornos I have. It's all good fun.
In sum: Huzzah!

There's an example of my copic work. ^^;; I have so few limited colors.
How do you ink/color? All digital?
As for the colors in that image, those were done with Copic ciao markers. Which was what I originally thought you were talking about before I realized it was the inking pens specifically. Whoops! I am so artist. lol
I buy alot of different sizes to get different weights in the lines. But often I find myself going over certain lines to make them thicker too.
I was kind of asking about the ciao markers, too - I saw them in big boxes at the store and I was like, hmm. Because I have money to burn right now, which is not normal, but hey. I can afford to blow $300 on markers if I want. I just ended up buying the inking pens to play with since everyone talks about copics so much and I thought I'd try them out. Is it just for coloring that people are into them?
I'm really in a weird spot artistically right now - trying to sort out what I want from myself when I haven't drawn in a long time. I've sketched a lot but I never finish anything and my concepts are pretty fragmented. I bought myself a Wacom and I'm not sure if I just should dive into doing digital media or try to get used to using real media again :/ I so super suck at inking on a Wacom:)
I like the way that Copic Ciao markers are more blendable (issat a word...lol). Some people do amazing work with just copic ciao, I don't think I can do that yet, but I like to practice with them. I think where ever they are sold there's a blending marker you can buy for them too! (I've been wanting to buy one myself since I think it helps to blend the color to not look so...liney? Haha I wonder if my explanation makes any sense. D:
I understand, I got so used to digital at one point, I stop doing traditional, so I try to do both. You could always do both, but doing a traditional pencil or ink, scanning, and then coloring digitally? Or something like that. As for inking with a Wacom, I find Open Canvas to be the easiest beginner program, if you can get one of the newer versions (1.1 is free) then they have a pen in there called "Spoon Pen" that is easier for those trying to learn inking, I think. It's a pen that has good weight variant to it, and is good for fast strokes. So inking becomes a bit easier.
Oh, btw! If you have MSN, send me your addy, you can always chat it up with me there, though I'm not on alot during the week. If not that's cool too, but feel to reply and stuffs if you have more questions. :3
I usually draw and ink traditionally, and I haven't been coloring traditionally for a while, so I end up with stuff like this:

It's not horrible, but I think it's clear that I don't know what I'm doing anymore :/
I will check out Open Canvas. And I'm going to send you my MSN sthingie!
