A pet rat is a wise choice.

Yes for sure, it makes me so sad when people are like "eww they are gross and viscous" :( But they are really the nicest pet ever, just bad rep makes everyone think they are horrible.

I love rats, I own 2 right now. They're my second pair and absolutely wonderful pets. As far as making them toys I would stay away from cloth stuff. They will tear it up and stuff it in there house, also some materials might also be harmful if ingested. If possible try picking up some wooden toys that are safe to chew. It helps with gnawing urges and helps file down quickly growing teeth. A wheel is a must, they love to run and need the exercise. Maybe even a rat ball to run around the house safely in.

yes! they enjoy nibbling on those and if small enough they like to squeeze through them... and also they like to try and pack it into their house HAHA they'll try to take almost everything in there.

May I suggest you get 2 instead of 1. Rats are very social and having another rat buddy to talk to, groom, and cuddle with will make them much happier and make the new home less stressful.

I would honestly love 2 but I was lucky enough to convince my mom to let me get one. :(
