I find it absolutely disgusting that companies will deny people work based off of their personalities and just who they are in general. "No, you cannot work and survive and eat, you are far too shy!"
The people at grocery stores seem to be pretty cool and collected. I'd love to work at a grocery store. The only places that I've actually seen hiring around here are pizza places looking for delivery drivers. And I don't think that's safe to do without a penis. ._.
Yeah, that's another thing too. Women are allowed to do jobs the same as men, but that doesn't mean we're safe doing it.
Damn. I remember this one time my friends had a discussion about feeling safe leaving the house. All my female friends said they didn't feel safe leaving at night and all my male friends said they felt fine. Pretty ridiculous IMO.
Yeah, it really sucks. Once when I went in and the owner said they were only hiring delivery drivers I was like, "Well I'm assuming you'd need a guy for that then...Hmm... Well duct tape and a baseball cap works wonders." He just laughed haha.
mostly it's the area too, you know? I moved from a really shitty neighborhood into a really nice one, and I feel completely safe walking around at night here. But going to drunk people's houses and delivering pizza.........not so much......
Aww man, I live in Edmonton so I DEFINITELY know that feeling. One time I was by Stadium LRT station going from the buses to the train and a really old guy howled at me and called me "foxy" because I was wearing a husky hat thing. He was gross and smelled awful and I'm only 17 so it was pretty terrifying. Well of course, then like a week later a few people died in that place. O_O
Besides that, a friend and I went to Whyte ave. in the evening and got chased down the street by a crazy guy. ASJDKFL;
I don't think I could work one of those jobs where you go to people's houses and such. I'd probably get like abducted or something with my luck.
I'll just stick with applying for jobs at malls where there's security people with guns and cameras. *shifty eyes*
oh god I feel for you. ._.
im really hoping i dont get stuck with another fast food job. my last job was a smoothie joint, so it wasnt too bad but still..
i was getting 6.50 and hour at the job i just lost. :T
I'd love to work for disney, I just don't live in anaheim any more and my car can't make that drive every day. <:(
The truth is no one can say losing a job was a good thing, even though I agree with lovelybones. I've lost plenty of jobs and all of em felt like failures, and they were all loses i needed too take in order to find my capacity, like walmart was just too boring, but costco was just too fast for me, and sales suck when youre not charismatic.
But i like to think of it as like a divorce, when it happens it happens because shit wasnt working out, even if it wasnt your fault, you still wouldnt wanna be in that relationship if they fired you for your personality (which i think is bullshit considering the two employees that got hired were already related to the 19 year old managers).
The silver lining in this is that you dont have to deal with costco level work for less than minimum wage, and you know you did well, youre personality isnt an issue in places like grocery stores which is very good because no you can tackle jobs alot easier than someone who stamped paperwork all day at the previous job. So now theres that better option in your life, and even though shit sucks now, you can learn from what you went through and get ahead in the next job.
It took me about 5 jobs before I found the right one. And as i recall you didnt find me too easily either =)
No worries, id still use it on a resume and you still got some cute pants out of it :p
I love you babey, just keep your chin up and be yourself, youll find the right chemistry somewhere and youll be working at a place you feel at home with. *lots and lots of hugs and kisses ok?* <3 ill take you out this wednesday ok? maybe we can go play with one of the puppies this time <3
