See you, breathe you, I want to be you
Alalalala alalalala
You can take take take take take time time
To live live the way you gotta gotta live your life
Give me give me give me all of you you
Don't be scared
I'll see you through the loneliness of one more more more
Don't even think about what's right or wrong, wrong or right
'Cause in the end it's only you and me and no one else is gonna be around
To answer all the questions left behind
And you and I are meant to be so even if the world falls down today
You've still got me to hold you up up
And I will never let you down

Ok lemme ask a question that can either help me out or dig me deeper into the ground.
In your opinion is it art theft for using a pose?
For example my lastest one "First Time" I did use a pose to get the drawing the way I wanted it, I did not steal the drawing itself...now If I did you would see a furry ramming a pud into his ass...here you see a Digimon doing that.
Now lemme ask: Did I steal someones work?
Is it so bad to use a pose?!
And if so im not the only one who's done it, everyone has used a pose similar to someone else...so shouldnt they have to give credit for using a pose?!
If it is theft then hell...I dunno what to do from here on out...

A lot of people got great at art by learning the masters. I know that in art class we had to copy a lot of stuff and learn how based on the works that people have done before.
If people are complaining that it is, then, we've been doing this wrong for several centuries.

The difference is that the latter one feels less forced, more relaxed, and just a better sketch and guide to start working and refining from.
Then again, it might be a learning style thing. I went through at least 10 years of art classes where I was sat down with something in front of me and told "Draw This!" whether it be a bowl of fruit, pumpkins, or something in a magazine. So, if I'm wrong, let's form a posse and blame Art Teachers!
Look at the guilmon pic in my gallery, then theres a chibi of myself in my gallery, same basic pose right? Though, it really wasn't purposeful. x3
Anyways, it doesn't matter what pose you use, someone will have already used it.
As for people who traced someone elses work or something else...I can say ive done it, I used karabiner pictures, I never traced, and I always gave copyrights to him, I havent drawn ANYTHING by him since december, I stopped and even had them taken down. I dont do that anymore its not me, now im doing my own stuff, but by the looks of it, if I cant even use a pose that someone else did I dont know why im even drawing anymore.
:x
Also: I want bread!
but seriously...
Referencing is fine by me so long as like there's proper credit. Or if you don't know the source, just mention that it was referenced. More than likely someone will know where the source is from and help you out.
More often than not, folks will be mad if you don't cite your sources because that in effect is as bad as going 'I drew this all by myself.' Also, it's probably good to not stick with the habit too much. I know it gets annoying to have to try and come up with stuff on your own but it's good to try things without eyeballing a previous work. It helps you get a better understanding of what you're drawing if you do the foundation work yourself. :3 ::thumbs up::
I see referencing more as a teaching aid if it's being used to improve your work, but if it's being done just because it's easier to redo a picture I don't feel you learn anything from that other than how to be a decent mimic. No pose is copy written to any one person but that doesn't mean we can't try to NOT be duplicates of each other.
However if you do feel uncomfortable referencing a pose from someone else just photograph yourself in a pose you want and draw the basic structure over that then fix it towards whatever race/species is supposed to be in the drawing (although this may be better with a friend to help if you're doing a picture with multiple subjects).
These types of people are desperate for attention.
I don't think it's stealing. =P All creativity needs a root, otherwise nothing will grow and blossom.
the problem is when it's apparent you traced it then change the character features.
