Anthrocon in Review - 2012
This is going to be a hard one to sum up, but...
Dance :
This was the biggest part of the con for me. AC has a lot of things going for me, and 06 was the first year I got to ever really 'dance' in my life. Before that I had never really gotten to dance at all. It gave me a taste of something I loved, but I had no idea what I was doing. Fast Forward a few years, and 2011 introduced me to the idea of actually refining myself in dance, and though I could have tried harder, I looked a tutorials, practied, and got advice. Any skill I brought to Anthrocon this year I owe to
-Fursuit Dance Competition : It sounds a bit weak, but the main reason I got a Fursuit was for this. Friday I rushed and participated in the preliminaries for the Fursuit Dance Comp. There was something like 40+ people who attended, and first we did a quick heat of a bunch of us dancing, and what is a boost to my ego, I did get into the semni finals for it, but was not called back for the final 21 that got in. People keep saying I did good, so I won't undersell myself(it gets annoying after a while), and to be honest, I think Its better I didn't get in. I didn't want to be validated for poor or even unrefined performance. It encourages me to hone, refine, practice, and just enjoy this passion even more. The whole thing was so exciting to just be part of, and I met the amazing, and lovely
there. Great guy, wish I could have got to hang out with him more at the con.
-Last Fur One Floor Wars : Come Saturday, this was my next dance thing to participate in. I luckily got into this one because it was a first come, first serve. The people who also got in were all amazing. Like, there was 0 slack from ANY of the 15 others. Big names like
or
, and many others were all there. I really had no idea what I was doing there, and the feeling of the whole thing was a power, an excitement that is indescribeable. AC always has this 'energy' around it, and I felt it strongest here as we had the crowd cheering, oohing, and all stuff while watching very personal, and powerful dances back and forth between amazing talent.
My battle was against
and I have to thank him for the opportunity. The reception for my performance was surprising among some of the 'big names'. There was comradery, and inclusion there that was something I've never really felt at AC before. It's really hard to explain, but the encouragement, has if nothing else solidified my interest in dance, and my yearning to improve.
Friends : I got to meet so many people I only meet at AC whether it was
playing Werewolf till 4 am, and coming up with ridiculous grappling hook ideas, to
who is always a pleasure to hang out with, watching Broncho.
I have to give a shout out to both
, and
, two artists I admire very much, and are very fun to hang around with, I got to draw with them a little back in 2011, and got to hang around with them for short bits.
I lended my fursuit to
as I got to finally hang out with her. She's quite an intellegent person that's fun to have conversations with. I'm glad I got to share the experience of having a fursuit with her like was done with me back in 2011.
I finally got to meet
as well, and then later on the flight back we chilled while waiting for our flights.
There were also
, and I'm sure many more I can't remember and I'm sorry if I didn't get to meet you. The whole con was crazy running around without a room card, trying to attend Dance stuff, trying to throw on my suit and strut around, or get food, sleep, not sleeping, or even running around the Dealers den for goodies. There was so much to do, and so much I didn't get to do.
Hands down though, BEST ANTHROCON EVER. I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who made it amazing. I am going to ride this energy for a couple months for sure.

FA+

And damn, you got to see Rei? I probably would have had a heart attack.... :P Hahaha!
Are there any videos up of you dancing?
I did end up sneaking into Mangusu's Dance Video, and there's a 'teaser' of it, but you see like half a second of me in a giant crowd doing nothing : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px04UacmqdI
Also I think you definitely should go to AC :)
Im certain next time though your moves will hypnotize the opposition. They'll be entranced by your dance :)
MESMERIZE!
Keep it real homie!
