Old Town is awesome! I had so much fun there a few years back!

yup old town is pretty neat. Downtown disney is a great place to hang out at. Most theme parks id be skeptical about it because we are getting closer to the year when a lot of tourists comes.So theres gonna be long waits, and be prepare to pay 2-3 dollars on a water bottle there.

Guh.. I got stranded there for a whole day. There are some interesting things there. but most of the attractions are tourist traps. It'd be worth a try if you put a bolt lock on your wallet.

OK true, just not sure if I will have the time and such to get to spend in Disney, just figured the more ideas and places I can get here, gives me a good variety of things to do there! ^_^

Nope, the hotel where the event is shares a parking lot with a Disney building. It is 3 minutes from Disney's Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. Probably about 10 minutes from the Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney.

I'd call that WITHIN 15 minutes :3

There's Gatorland, Silver spurs rodeo, Seaworld, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure. I dunno lol, I live in Florida, though.

Old Town, Downtown Disney, any of the parks, Gatorland, the mall is pretty awesome if you go on the right days (downright busy other days). I live real local and jsut heard about this gathering the other day - I hope I can end up coming at least one of the days.

Heh, why not the town itself? Heh, they've got some odd town ordinances, so like wreths are mickey-shapped and such XD Oh, and i suggest the Pac Man Cafe (arcade games new and old and good food). And WonderWorks isnt bad if youre into lifes oddities (go see hte building at least XD You'll see why). Not necessarily in Kissimee, but relativly in area. :3

I love Kissimmee. It's sooooo much cheaper than staying at the hotels/resorts in Orlando and Disney World. I have a word of advice though...

If you go to Downtown Disney and eat at the Rainforest Cafe, check your food to make sure it's cooked all the way. 3 out of 5 of my family members who ate there wound up getting sick enough it ruined the final 2 days of our first vacation to the area 8 years ago. If you go to Universal City Walk's Hard Rock Cafe, watch out for a photo surcharge on your bill (they took our picture there back in 2000 and tried to charge us for it without permission).

As was said, Kissimmee isn't too far off from Orlando. So if you go there, and get to International drive, theres a whole lot of things there. S'the main road for attractions to be on, I think.

There's just about alot of things to do or check out in the Kissimmee/Orlando area. Other than the parks themselves, some of the other local attractions like shopping centers and so forth are worthwhile to check out.

Word of warning though that the traffic is going to be a real pain in the ass around alot of the areas so if you plan on getting to a certain place at a particular time, you'll need to leave at least an hour early just to be safe.

I'm not from there myself, but I do know the traffic by heart from going there almost every year.

That's usually the case from what I've noticed, but even then, some of the regular traffic can be a pain.

I go to the local college at UCF. If you would like to. I can get you a 50 percent discount on one of the local parks. the best deal is for universal. I can get you a ticket for thirty bucks. (though I won't be able to go with you. I am doing films this weekend.) I just figured you'd want to know. oh yes. and I reccommend the milennia mall. Quite possibly one of the most impressive shopping centers I've seen in a while, mostly for their architecture. if you ever go to florida you have to go to either disney or universal once.
here's some advice:

If you wanna feel like a kid again: go to disneyworld
If you want to be intrigued and excited: go to epcot (mission space and crush's turtle talk are a must)
If you want to relive some of your favorite movies: go to MGM

If you want some incredible rides: go to islands of adventure
If you want some classic rides and to meet the enigmatic  betelguese : go to universal studios

I've not been to the others. but I do hope you enjoy yourself. Orlando is a very interesting place if you just avoid the construction on the 408 at night.

x3 Unless you're planning to stay for a week, Elliott's basically saps up all time over the weekend it's held... There's the group gathering of course, and if you're there the night before we go out for foods, there's the party all day saturday, we all get up sunday and have breakfast together, and then everyone slowly departs, and in between all that there's movies and art and contests and video games to play (yay for free games!) etc. It's like a mini-con without the whole sales of stuff. Of course, if you WANT to sell stuff, it's totally okay to do that too, so some people might be.

Just pointing that out. I usually don't have time to do much of anything because I'm so busy with the party. ^^ Might also be because I try and help... c_c

Old town is awesome, plus there's a Checker's hamburger joint right there. Tasty burgers, cool rides, and awesome shops. I lived on the Irlo strip for a while, so there's not much I don't know about!

I need to add one thing.

If you see TIMESHARE advertised somewhere, run the other way...run and don't stop running....just get out of there. Visitor/guest/tourist information is normally not what you think it is and they commonly push timeshares just like the cheap/free ticket stands. Don't go to the timeshare things, don't accept their discounts, don't go to their meetings, don't try to get cheap/free tickets through them, and don't fall for their promotions. Do not sign anything, do not carry any form of money or credit or ID with you if you have to go to one of those things, do not agree to anything in any way (verbally, written, mentally, etc.), and tell them you just had your fifth foreclosure. If there's a door out, there's another door behind it and another door behind it and another door behind it too, each one having salespeople.

Finally, always choose the boat over the mystery box.

Gatorland is a little tourist trap-type place that is actually kind of interesting. They actually provided the "crocodile" footage at the end of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", so they got that going for them.....which is good.

Alright Gideon I was born in the Kissimmee, Florida.

Pretty much what everyone says is dead on balls accurate. Your within 15 minutes of all the major theme parks in Florida including Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World, Gatorland. The beach is not that far away and it very nice in Florida.Old Town is pretty chill too. Also if your into the Medevil thing, theres Midevil Times, I dont remember it that well (havent gone to it since I was a kid) but I remember when I was a kid I enjoyed it. You also can hit up Downtown Disney, there is a lot of interesting stores on that strip, incluing a huge Virgin Records store, AND The House of Blues. Who knows, some weekends they hold concerts there.

Well I'm from Ft. Lauderdale so maybe I can help out. :) WEll, as has been previously said, if you make your way to Orlando, International Drive is THE PLACE for tourists. It's so packed at night, it's amazing. One of my personal favorite attractions near there is a place called Fun Spot off of International Drive in Orlando. It's a major go-kart attraction if you're into go-karts. :) It's a real good buy too if you buy an armband and stay there for a couple hours.

There's obviously the amusement parks. Everybody knows about them. City Walk is amazing. I lvoe shopping there. There's a really crappy mall in Orlando down Int. Dr. as well. It's only crappy because it doesn't ahve many stores. They have a Vans skatepark though if you skateboard and a huge Ron Jon Surfshop if you like surfshops.

If you decide to travel a little, then Daytona Beach is the place to go. It's close enough for a day trip or just s stop on the way home if you're going down I-95 to I-4 to get to Kissimmee. There are also tons of water parks in Kissimee/Orlando which will be very tempting to you since it's starting to get warmer down there.

And if you're old enough and do drink then bar hopping in Orlando is good times! Pretty much, Kissimee is the not so busy suburb of Orlando. Orlando is where it's all happening, but it's good to stay in Kissimee since it's a cheaper stay.

WonderWorks. You can't miss it. It looks like an upside down building off International Drive. Not too expensive, lots of little fun things to do, and laser tag in it too if you have a group.
