LIFE and moving forward
So back in August I had some impacted ear wax after taking a shower, just got lodged in there so I hit the minute clinic. They do the usual blood pressure reading and such. It was 181/110 PRETTY damn bad. Oh, and prediabetic . So they were like yer seeing a doctor NOW. I was 266 lbs, leading a pretty inactive lifestyle and eating nothing but fast food almost daily. He puts me on a daily blood pressure pill etc.
Doc's like...OK...keep doin what yer doin and in less than 5 years or sooner you will have a life altering event that could include either a stroke or heart attack. WELL that's some wake up shit. So I get an app that helps count my calorie/sodium/sugar levels and stop doin the fast food, soda etc. I start using an exercise bike daily and cutting my calorie intake WAY down.
That was August...today...I am at 185 lbs and still losing, am no longer anywhere near prediabetic, and can even cut the BP pill down since my numbers are so lowered. MAN o MAN what a change...I was wearing like...44 size pants...down to 34 SKINNY JEANS...and fitting rather comfortably into large/medium size clothes rather than XL. But it ain't bout that, it's bout sticking around a lil longer and enjoying the time here.
SHAMELESS PLUG TIME...I also started a digital store and if you wanna support my work, lots of old outta print folios I dug up to put in there and am always updating it with older folios and will be releasing some just digital only material there as well!

Glad to hear its going so well.
Glad you're doing better now man. Gonna go check out your wares now. You got anything that depicts a character with larger than normal sized body parts?
And thanks bro!
If you don't mind me asking, which of these packs has the most Drazelle in it?
Yours (oft-times in silence)

Will check out that store and hope to see ya soon at the next con
Sounds like you dealt with things a whole lot better than I have.
Really makes you re-evaluate what's really important to you.
This year i've sworn off candy, altogether. and my bf only drinks flavored seltzer. no more corn syrup ever. These are big enough changes. I'm back to my college physique that i missed so much.
Lots of people care about you. You're still an original to me.
About 2.5 years ago I got a similar "warning" (but about my liver). I got a FitBit to make a record as proof, started walking for exercise, started keeping track of my calories, water, sleep, and weight. In eight months I shed 40 pounds and have held relatively steady ever since. Plus I no longer feel so tired when I stay on my feet all day at a convention.
Making those life changes is no simple task. I was hospitalized with blood pressure 200/100 . I was put on anxiety meds as well as blood pressure medication.
My blood pressure is very good now, they took me off blood pressure meds - and I’m in much better shape. But yeah it’s weird when suddenly there’s some REAL consequences- it’s like the stop sign you slam into that reminds you you’re an adult now and you do actually have to manage yourself.
Glad we get more Gideon years. Keep it up my dude.
I find myself wishing I had tried to fix things sooner rather then later. But these days I'm all about doing better and moving forward.
See less of you soon
