Quick summery of Sphinx culture:
The sphinx have a culture within a culture. They are like the Roma, or Gypsies, and though they live all over the place and adopt some of the local culture in, they still retain much of their own. They have songs and legend that they teach orally. They hail from a cold mountainous region and usually prefer countries that are cold the majority of the year. They avoid regions that have not signed some form of species equality or protection act, as they live in a world were slave trade is common and they are particularly valuable because they are somewhat exotic (as are most "mythical" or 6 limbed species). They wear hand-spun clothes and have aesthetics that resembles a mash-up of between Roman/Egyptian/Persian culture, where skin/fur bleaching with lime is popular. Main source of food are tubers and peppers and so their food is usually spicey, livestock are goats and geese, beasts of burden are yak-ox-like beasts. Farmers, shepherds, hunters, witch-doctors and herb-wives are most common. Each tribe has at least one spiritual leader, a priest or priestess, with one or several acolytes, a small Council who make community decisions. They're spiritualism is a kind of shamanic, ancestor-central, trans-cultural, universal syncreticism, every deity, spirit etc is a facet of a supreme concept of devinity (closely resembles a mixture between Hinduism and Asatru). "Marriages" are optional, children are raised among the communily, gender roles are fluid. Sphinx are ovipositionary mammals. Females can reproduce asexually if need be, but offspring are basically clones and will always be female.
