Fifty Shades of Grey proves conclusively that authorial success is PURE FUCKING LUCK and substance has little to do with it. >.>
But, really, I've known that for some time now...
[EDIT] Okay, I confess, I haven't read it... And maybe I shouldn't speak about "substance" before doing so. I've had the good fortune to read brilliant fanfic before, and maybe there's something truly brilliant about Fifty Shades of Grey? Possibly - but not in the excerpts I've seen. It's really the "Twilight fanfic" part that gets me. <shudder>

I like how the protagonist was a modern day student and had never had a computer, much less used the internet to conduct research. Realism!

Heh, I haven't read it. Not out of disdain for the "Twilight fanfic" origins, but simply 'cos erotica isn't generally to my taste.
