Promotional assistance / FA help?
Hi folks, I've got a few watchers here, which mystifies and gratifies me. :3
I'm a part-time writer, about to make some serious hours and wordcounts happen this summer.
I need some help from someone(s) experienced in the development of websites and promotional plans. Between full time work, parenting, schooling, I do not have time to get this shit together myself. Here's the key things I could really use y'all's help one:
1. I have a domain name now, www.bahumat.com. What should I do for reasonable free hosting? I see a lot of sites out there from authors using something called Wordpress, I guess? Seems like a lot of authors have their own functional websites. And the last time I did web development, it was in raw HTML back in the late 90's. So you can imagine that my skills probably aren't up to modern standards. Are there templates out there? Hosting sites I can point my domain towards?
2. I intend to host my publically available stories through Google Drive. I find their service reliable and headache-free. Should I mirror the stories here on FA, or should I merely post links? What would you good folks, regular users of FA, recommend?
3. I'm painfully unused to making FA work for me. Hell, I can't even seem to get my icons working right. Anyone know a good page to learn about how to make this place dance and sing like I've seen other users do? I see no links for FAQ or "If you're painfully new and retarded click here so you aren't such a goddamn n00b" button.
4. For those of you working with FA and your own websites, how do you decide what work to exclusively post where, if anywhere?
