A Quiet 4th
Due to serious drought conditions here, the fireworks display has been cancelled. Which is just as well, really, as I'd rather not see my town go up in flames, but it's kind of a pity, too, as the display has always been one of the high points of summer. Especially since the park where they hold it is close enough to my house that I can sit in my front yard and watch it without having to pay one red cent. Because I'm cheap like that.
So here's wishing my fellow Americans a happy 4th, and go enjoy some fireworks for me.

Aw, well I don't know about the rest of the country, but I'd come back!
I think that a "red cent" is not simply an Americanism but, these days, a somewhat obscure one, as I don't hear people use it all that often, myself. But, from my own quick Google search, I gather that a "red" cent is one that is still shiny and new, a bright coppery colored penny, as opposed to one that has turned dull and brown due to oxidation.
