Quite an eye opener when I became aware of this blog. Telling how often the harassers resort to insults revolving around a woman being sexually promiscuous when their sexual advances are rejected. But even as a man that sort of poisonous atmosphere makes me keen to never venture into online gaming.

Is it me or has there been a recent resurgence of misogyny? Just thinking of recent stuff put out in mainstream superhero comics....female characters are so objectified it's repulsive. Looking at those sites above just makes me furious.

I feel like there is a real backlash going on. Some bury their head in the sand, some lash out. These are all just immature responses to issues that people need to deal with rather than trying to ignore like they have in the past (which is why they like to hark to the "get back in the kitchen" bit so much). One of the main jobs of feminism is to make sure that people do NOT have the option to ignore these issues because they affect everybody.

It's a very complex issue. I wish people didn't have to get harassed just so that this dialogue can make it onto people's radar though.
