watching!
First appeared in my neighbor totoro, called dust bunnies or Makkuro Kurosuke in japanese. But the granny calls them Traveling Soot, or Susuwatari in japanese. They appeared again in Spirited away but are refereed to by the same names but people seem to remember them as soot spirits, which they were also called. They were also refereed to as black soots in early subtitles i do believe. Oh! and i also have heard that there are Easter eggs in other movies of studio ghiblis with the soot sprites hidden in backgrounds and so on.
*cough* i'm not obsessed with the movies or hayao Miyazaki or anything. Pfffttt crazy talk.
Spirited away! so cute but my favorite little character thing with big eyes like that is Calsifur (spelling what's that?) in howls moving castle. The voice acting in english was great. and the way he points fingers so to speak is funny
Hmmm well I know soot sprites were seen in Miyazaki's Spirited away, they live down in the coal chamber where the old man heats the water, helping him with the tasks, though I wil lagree with others that they are in My neighbor Totoro as well and I thought that they were called house sprites in it but been a long time since I last watched it. Anyways for a little ball of charcoal dust they are pretty cute
Soot sprites first appeared as little spirits that lived in the house that Satsuki and Mei moved into in Miyazaki's beloved My Neighbour Totoro. They also, however, reappeared as the soot spirits working for Kamaji in Spirited Away, another of Miyazaki's best films. They are approximately four centimetres in diameter, if the lumps of coal they carry are any indication or reference.
Soot sprites are from Spirited away ^^
I can't believe I remembered, I had a thought back in my head then it clicked and I remembered the whole movie. Then read through the comments, guess it's more common knowledge then I thought haha.
In My Neighbor Totoro they were called soot sprites (and dust bunnies depending on the dub). They make a wonderful comeback in Spirited Away. I _love_ these adorable fluffs of dust.
I had already been watching. :)
Where are soot sprites from?
My Neighbor Totoro!! That was my favorite movie as a kid (still is)- I always thought the little fuzzy sprites were so cute. ;3;

I've seen most Miyazaki films, but I'm not sure if they show up in any of the others.
