Hopefully I handled this situation properly.

An individual sent me this sincere message through youtube a few days ago. I sent a response and I hope it came through with the notion that its nothing personal but I don't wish hardships on anyone.

At first, im a HUGE fan from your fursuiting-being :D And thats exactly the point of my question.
i saved (and still saving) money for a fullbody fursuit and i didnt really know which one i want aaaaand then i saw your Monster kangaroo (it is one am i right? cause i saw the symbol on the back). And y i dont know how to say but i kinda fell in love with that one and i want to "copy" it if its possible. And before i ever take a commission i wanted to ask you if it's okay to ahm... "copy" your suit (sounds kinda awkward doesnt it... :/ ). Well, i live in Germany so "your" community wont rly see me. But i think you know what i mean. So ahm... do you let me "copy" it? and if not, maybe i can change symbols, colors or anything like that? but it would be uber-awesome if i could copy 100% (:

I suggest you do your best to your abilities to change the design up. I don't mind if your suit is 'inspired' by MonsteRoo but for your own sake you should change the patterns and alter them so it isn't a replica.
I wont interrogate or harass you if you decide to copy MonsteRoo but I have no control over the many individuals apart of the fandom who do know of my work and will criticize any imitators just based upon appearances. Trust me this has happened before in a couple of cases.
And I wouldn't underestimate the fact that you live in Germany to make too much of a difference.

i brought it up in response to the quantity of JDs basically saying he isn't the only one
And I also like how you told him that just because he's in Germany, he won't be seen!

i mean its your fursona with meaning to you and copying it would just not mean anything.
Plus there is only one monsterroo!

Sounds like he is browsing a store of already made up fursona's that already belong to people XD
I think you were very polite and handled it well. If it was my situation I'd probably have gone into more detail as to why it's wrong to make an exact copy of someones creation and that creating a fursona is not about copying other peoples designs, it's about being inspired and creating something that is completely your OWN. So yeh, this person might not get the whole idea of character creation and originality, despite being totally in awe of your monsterroo.
Either way, you handled it just right! Very polite while still standing your ground :]
MonsteRoo may be my creation but he isn't my fursona.
He wasn't all that original himself since I was following the whole Soda Roo movement and thought about Monster Energy making a pretty good design.
So I went through with it, made myself, add a little extra spice by making him a thug... and I guess the rest is just how I perform in him.
Honestly, People think I'm a lot more attached to MonsteRoo than I really am.
And hope you're well man! Really hope to hang with you soon again Mangy
It would do them best to change it up as much as possible and even then they could run into problems with people thinking it was just outright taken.
This person might copy your design to a degree, though, so be ready for that should it happen.
