Assumptions are the mother of all fuck-ups as my dad likes to say. I do like sexual RPs, but not with everyone I meet, and I certainly dont think its the only thing about the fandom. All my Quiran-cuddles are clean ones :3

I support this message... last anthrocon was fine, but the year before.. one guy crossed my line (even though i shook my head in suit) , and i nearly close-lined him against the elevator wall... he was lucky someone else was in the elevator or he would have been out cold. And yes, I would have done that while in suit.

There's a crapload of people sort of "hovering" around the edges of the fandom who are discouraged by the constant (and unfortunately somewhat deserved) stigma "furry" has. What this boils down to is some people not having good sense.

You want to grope each other in suit? Fine. Do sexual RPing? You have every right. Have weird fetishes? OK. But for the love of all things good and holy, don't do it in public!. And don't assume everybody else in the fandom wants that too.

People bitch and moan about why the furry fandom is so poorly thought-of, how the public's opinions aren't accurate, and so on. Why on earth do non-furries think everybody here gets it on in animal costumes? Because some people here DO get it on in animal costumes-- In one case, in broad daylight, even. In the middle of a busy downtown area. On. Top. Of. A. Police. Car. Which is kind of hard to forget.

Some things, regardless of whether they're right or wrong, just aren't supposed to be talked about, initiated, or done in public. Regardless of one's view on the rightness or wrongess of certain acivities, everybody should be able to agree on at least that.

furries think people dont know? well, go to google and write down furry, disable safesearch and have allot of mindscarring images flying in your face.
ofcourse people will google when they see furries, they see something new and they wonder what it is

i try not to care what other people do as long as they're equally into it, but really, the whole sex thing, while i think the main stream makes too big of an uptight thing about it, has absolutely nothing to do with what got me into and interested in furry. i love hugs, but if anything, i'm usually the one who's too paranoid to hug anyone unless they hug me furst.

anything more then that, i think the expression used to be "get a room". it annoys me that many non-furs have this idea in their mind that we're all about yiff yiff yiff.
i know where that comes from. its the sensationalism factor that sells advertising space, which is generally all media cares about, usually anyway, and little or no concern for what it messes up in the process.

i like for people to be able to be happy and have fun. but i do wish they'd put something in the water so fewer humans would be born.

so i think the main reason and the degree to which i second your objection is the problem of it perpetuating this image among the ignorant of that being what we're about.

i don't like the dominant mundane culture being one of romanticizing aggressiveness, and i do think its repression of sexuality is to perpetuate that.
but we do have to live with what is there, until everyone changes it. and that takes something other then absurd public behavior on the part a few among us.

if anything, it takes more self restrain rather then less. mostly what it takes is more consideration, mutual and universal, for everyone.
