Updates from England: Tue 3 July - Sat 14 July
13 years ago
Whew! A whole week without updating! D: Sorry guise! X3; Here's what I've been up to:
SO!! Here's what I've been up to. :3
Tuesday 3 July:
Got to the airport, went through security okay, a lot of waiting around.
Was exciting to take off, as I've not been in a plane for a very long time and was only once before. I quite liked seeing the city from above at night - a sight I had never seen before, not even in pictures! Was also interesting that around 1:45am EST, it was pitch black outside with just a hint of sunrise. 20 minutes later, I woke up from my nap, at 2:05am EST, and it was very bright and sunny!! So cool~
Wednesday 4 July:
Got to Heathrow airport no issues, then took a coach to Stansted. Unfortunately for me, turns out my iPhone 4s from Verizon Wireless does not appear to work overseas, even with data and voice roaming on, and CDMA roaming off (or on), and restarting the phone. If anyone knows whether it's possible to use a VZW iPhone 4s in the UK, PLEASE let me know how! Anyway, called
euan-the-echidhog from a pay phone, although he ended up being just nearby. Met Euan and his mother, then rode back to Euan's house, where I got to ride for the first time on the left-front side of a car, where I was NOT a driver! XD Also caught a train coming through right as we pulled up to the tracks. Ended up taking a nap, as I didn't get any sleep on the plane. Took a walk into Kelvedon, Euan showed me around a bit, and went to the train station and caught some trains going by! I gave Euan's parents a gift of some homemade cookies my sister made (she runs a cookie business out of her kitchen.) Had dinner, went upstairs, started to draw, and that was that.
Thursday 5 July:
Went into Colchester to see some sights, like the ancient ruins and walls, as well as the gardens and shoppes. Had a lot of fun there. Also got to try some British fish & chips - similar to the fish fry they have in upstate New York. Came back, worked on my picture some more, had dinner (BBQ) and then pretty much got my picture finished.
Friday 6 July:
We went up to the train station to take the train into Sheringham (with a layover or two). From there, we got to see some magnificent steam trains, which were very fascinating and so much fun to watch and ride on! There were several steam trains, as well as a few diesels. The diesel one we rode on in Sheringham had the engine underneath the train (rather than a large loco that only has an engine and the engineer), and we actually sat directly behind the engineer and could see him operate the levers and such to move the train! :3 So yeah, lots of fun! :3
Saturday 7 July:
Met up with
luke-the-f0x and set off for Brighton, where Summer of Sonic was being held. The previous night, there had been an electrical fire in the original convention hall, so they had to relocate quickly to another hall. While queuing to get into SoS, I found a certain kitty cat,
double-s-nl walking up to me :3 It was very exciting to finally meet her <3 Got inside, was quite crowded. Made my way upstairs, where there was a panel of artists, where I managed to get a few drawings of Kat done :3 There was an art contest going on, though I really wasn't drawing too well that day. XD; Other stuff happened, actually not as much interesting stuff as I thought there might be, but was still fun!
Sunday 8 July:
Big gang of furries in London! :D Those that were in the group included:
tailsthekitsune
euan-the-echidhog
double-s-nl Rogerregorroger, Shadow-Dinosaur, HHog, MeglifKaddy,
luke-the-f0x BOY that was great having a large gang to hang around with :3 I really enjoyed everyone's company~ We all went out to breakfast at Wetherspoon, then went off into a pub for a bit, though none of us had anything alcoholic to drink. ;P After that, we went out to the Eye of London, which for those that don't know, is a giant ferris wheel with gondolas that rotate around the outside, rather than suspended and hanging down, for a better view of the city. The neat thing is, all the gondolas were fitted with a bunch of Samsung Galaxy Tab's that showed a photo of the city from whatever angle you were currently at, and even had a cool 3D thing for each building that you can click on and see more info about. Was really nifty~ After that, we went back to the train station, where we went to a restaurant, where HHog and MegliffKaddy had to leave early ( um, thanks guys for leaving us with the bill..! LOL x3; )
Monday 9 July:
Spent most of the day relaxing, caught some videos of some trains at a level crossing in Kelvedon, and did some arts.
Tuesday 10 July:
Oops, didn't plan this one out too well, ended up doing about the same thing as Monday. ^^;
Wednesday 11 July:
Went to Chelmsford to walk around the park and take some nice photos, t'was fun!
Thursday 12 July:
Went back to London, this time to meet up with Kesler (
aliciar ) which was very exciting for me. Took a cable car across the river Thames (the cable car having been open only a week or two, as it's very new). Then took a boat ride down the river to the Tower of London, where we crossed the Tower Bridge, and up the embankment to London Bridge. From there, we went up Monument, all 311 steps of it. Got some nice pictures from there, tired out as we were. Went back down, and shortly after getting to the bottom, some guy started walking around SCREAMING on his mobile phone in French or something, and everyone started locking their café doors as well as evacuating the area. ^^; After fleeing, we went to Camden Market for a while, which was quite fun! Kessy and I both ate like such fatties that day. X3;
Friday 13 July:
Spent the day with Euan and his family at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, where we saw all kinds of tanks, planes, and other military vehicles and artifacts. Was really interesting, and was thrilled at the fact that they don't mind you taking pictures. So yeah, lots of pictures were taken. XD
Saturday 14 July:
Had another day of resting and drawing with Euan~ :3
Then, it was now. XD hehe, thanks for those that actually read all this...if there is anyone. X3;
