Want to take a go at art

I am thinking about of taking a go at art. I heard there's some programs and debating of whitch one to get. any input from an artist will be helpful:)
is a good way to start. Having specific programs won't necessarily help you develop any kind of special ability. Joe Schmo might be given a brand new 6 speed Ferrari, but if he's never driven stick in his life before, he's not gonna do any better than he would have in a Ford Escort, know what I mean?
