A Relationship and its meaning.

I guess I'm writing this journal more of the basis of what I see happening not only in the fandom but amongst the gay community as a whole. You see guys talking to a potential "mate" or boyfriend and as soon as the conversation begins to get personal someone will ask, "Hey, are you a top or bottom?"
That, That right there urks me in so, SO ways. I understand that fact that people would like to be sexually comfortable around someone the like yes. However that should not be what a relationship built around. I know it sounds bad but more people then will admit of guilty because of this. The very minute they find out, oh, you are a bottom too? Or oh, you are a top too? Emotions instantly change towards them and any prior liking somehow seems to vanish and all that friendliness they had, gone.
The FIRST thing that someone should be thinking when trying to find a potential mate is more along the lines of, "Wow, I can be who I am around this person and make me feel like I am everything I always wanted to be." It shouldn't be, "Can this person pleasure me in bed?"
I have my preferences and I know what I would like to happen in bed but I'm also going to base what I do on the other person I am with. Satisfying the other and giving them what they please it what makes me happy.

Agreed... sex shouldn't be first and i kind of believe that whatever you expect from your partner you should be able to return as well or be open to trying
