Well, today was going well, until work. A classmate of mine came in and we decided to catch up for a few minutes. In a nutshell she was telling me that she had just attended the wake of a close friend of mine. He w as killed in Afghanistan last week and the service had been today. If I had known I would have called off to go. I had heard that he died, and that was sad enough. But I guess her talking about it just made it that much m ore real for me.

He was only 20 years old, and he's gone now. It hurts to think that, or even to type it out. Last time I saw him, he was smiling and telling me how cute I looked. I'd give anything to hear his laugh or see his smile.

But I guess he heard or saw how stressed out I was because when I stepped outside to take the garbage out, there was a rainbow in the sky. I figured that was his way of letting me know that everything's going to be okay <3
