New Year's Resolutions - August Update
SO! With that said, here are my resolutions for 2012.
1) I will attempt to start a career. Not a job, a career: a place that will allow me to better support myself, while offering long-term opportunities for advancement.
2) I will attempt to find a mate. I've pushed this one to the side for far too long. I want - and deserve - someone special with whom I can share my life.
3) I will replace the furniture in my room. I know I can do a lot better than this, and I should. My nightstand and dresser are okay, but my computer desk is kind of crap and my bookshelf is just plain awful, and my bed is more than 20 years old.
4) I will attend four furry conventions in 2012: Furry Fiesta, Anthrocon, Oklacon, and one more. I would like the extra to be either Mephit Furmeet or Midwest Furfest.
5) I will continue to attempt to find an exercise program, one that I can do year-round. No more 'it's freezing cold' or 'it's blazingly hot' for me.
Well, there they are. Let's see how I do!
The above was posted right around the turn of the year...five goals for me to accomplish by the end of the year. Well, July is basically gone, so I'm calling it August for all intents and purposes. Let's see how I'm doing.

FAIL: Currently stuck at the same place, though I am making steps toward obtaining the job I want to get.

2) I will attempt to find a mate. I've pushed this one to the side for far too long. I want - and deserve - someone special with whom I can share my life.
SUPER-FAIL: I have told someone who is very important to me how I feel about them, and that I'm interested in them in a romantic context. It wasn't mutual.

FAIL: None of my furniture has changed.
-
4) I will attend four furry conventions in 2012: Furry Fiesta, Anthrocon, Oklacon, and one more. I would like the extra to be either Mephit Furmeet or Midwest Furfest.
UNKNOWN: So far, so good. Furry Fiesta and Anthrocon are behind me. Oklacon is still in front of me. It's going to be pretty hard to make it four, though; might just stay at three.
-
5) I will continue to attempt to find an exercise program, one that I can do year-round. No more 'it's freezing cold' or 'it's blazingly hot' for me.
SUCCESS: I have been walking for about two miles a day almost every day for the past two and a half months. My old pants will no longer fit me.
So, there we have it. Two fails, one super-fail, one so-far-so-good, and one success. Not so great so far, but there are still four months left in the year!

FA+

Without accomplishing #1, it would be difficult to accomplish #3. Furniture, good furniture, costs money!
Well done on #5. It's amazing how much just walking every day can help your general health. I used to spend an hour on the road every day, I really should start doing that again.
I had similar goals for this year, with about the same success/failure rate. I haven't been hired for a new job nor found a mate. I did get a new pair of end tables for my living room. I had to cancel plans for Furry Fiesta this year and will likely have to do the same for MFF. I will attend RMFC since it's local and I'm sharing a room to save money.
Ha, I understand it all too well. You have plans, good ones, but there is always so much in the way that slows them down. Just keep at it. For the committed (take whichever meaning you wish) there is no obstacle you cannot overcome, so long as you want it. *fingers crossed* hopefully you don't have to take a step down to break into your chosen field.
"SUPER-FAIL: I have told someone who is very important to me how I feel about them, and that I'm interested in them in a romantic context. It wasn't mutual."
Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that. But it's much better to be rejected than to crash and burn after getting used to someone. Trust me when I say discovering it later is infinitely worse. I give you all due props for having the courage to broach your feelings and for the resolve I know you possess in dealing with the disappointment. Besides, good relationships can't be forced or rushed anyways. No matter how much you might want them to. Worrying about it too much just creates a destructive spiral that makes you lonely.
"FAIL: None of my furniture has changed."
Well that's small potatoes :). I'm still sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Keep your eyes and ears open with friends, relatives, and perhaps the occasional garage sale though. Furniture is usually something you can catch alot of windfalls on if you're resourceful.
"UNKNOWN: So far, so good. Furry Fiesta and Anthrocon are behind me. Oklacon is still in front of me. It's going to be pretty hard to make it four, though; might just stay at three."
GL and have fun at all the remaining you get to attend! :3.
"SUCCESS: I have been walking for about two miles a day almost every day for the past two and a half months. My old pants will no longer fit me."
Hurrah!! Exercise can suck. I finally found my groove with DDR and the Wii Fit inside. Walking and biking outside in the heat with Houston humidity is just not feasible when the temps break 90 consistently. Big congrats on the exercise though. I've gone through the in shape >>> out of shape >>> in shape cycle several times before and I know exactly how much commitment that requires.
Keep on truckin :). Maybe you don't get all of them nailed down, maybe you get lucky and score some more hits before the end of the year. Either way the important thing is you are making progress :). Nothing bad at all about self improvement and moving forwards, though it's not always as fast as we want hehe.
SUPER-FAIL: I have told someone who is very important to me how I feel about them, and that I'm interested in them in a romantic context. It wasn't mutual.
That's not a SUPER fail bunny. It takes a lot of gusto to lay yourself out like that to someone. I know that it hurts to be regected but you are still trying, that puts you light years ahead of so many people....don't forget that, don't be so hard on yourself, and don't stop trying
Going to AC, MFF, and TFF (Hopefully) this year. :D So that's cool! Maybe I'll see ya.
