I might open up a few anthro commission slots in the fall

...but first, lemme 'splain something.
I've been working on a commission load from some other sites for the last 2-3 months, and it hasn't all been peachy. There are certainly rules for artists who sell commissions, but there needs to be a rule set for those who buy commissions as well. This is one of the reasons my ToS are so stringent. I don't like dealing with people who change their minds every ten minutes and I don't like having to hunt people down for information or for compensation. If you have a clear idea in your head of what you want to commission, then tell me. Don't tell me to "wing it" and then turn around and say "this isn't what I imagined at all, X should be done like Y and Z should be T and blahblahblahblah." I don't redo "wing it" images if I'm told to "wing it." Period. If you want a commission in color, give me a colored reference for gourd's sake, or at least a description of the colors that should be in the image. I'm pretty lax about my half-up-front and half-after rule, but if you don't pay for your image in full at some point, the "unpaid" watermark isn't coming off.
IF YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR MIND ABOUT BUYING A COMMISSION, TELL THE ARTIST IMMEDIATELY. Don't say, "Oh, a week ago I decided I can't afford it, but thank you for the free art, can you remove that watermark now plz so I can post it all over tumblr lolololololol?" No. Never. Shut the fuck up and get out of my store. Your commission will be reworked into one of my own characters, or if they want it, someone else's, and I'll never accept commission requests from you again. Non-artists don't realize how much work goes into a drawing or painting, and I don't really know if there's a way to make them understand. If an artist is in the dark about your change of heart, they'll keep going under the assumption that they're getting paid for their time. Don't let this happen to your artist. Do the right thing.
One thing I've noticed about a lot of people who buy commissions, from myself as well as others, is that they get all huffy and up in arms about an artist not immediately responding to their messages, but when it's the other way around, the artist has no right to be mad that the buyer "has a life and can't be expected to respond at your beck and call." First of all, without the relevant information, your commission can't be completed in a timely manner, which a lot of those same people will likely complain about, and secondly, if it takes too long, the artist is once again shafted for their time for prolonged periods. It's undersstandable if you're on vacation and can't respond, but if you're responding to other notes from the artist without giving the information requested, then there's really no one else to blame, is there?
Most people who have commissioned me have been pretty good about reading my rules and abiding, but some commissioners I would like to strangle. Just putting that out there. I don't really like doing commissions, but it's because of people who do the shit I've mentioned above. Many of my commission experiences have been awesome and I've made a lot of friends of the customers I get along with. And as always, the extra cash helps. It's just very frustrating because drawing becomes a chore when I have to deal with those other non-cooperative sorts. I COULD be spending my time working on commissions for people who actually want their art, who read the rules, and who are generally nice people, but instead I'm wasting my time on that other lot. If it becomes more of a problem in the future, I'm just going to start dropping commissions and refunding people if necessary without question. Shit is ridiculous.
And now I'm going to draw some bears while I wait for people I've had to hunt down to respond to my requests for information.

I won't recommend them unless I can vouch for them.
