~'What's really in a Chick-fil-A sandwich'
Chick-fil-A has gone off the rails. President Dan Cathy has said that the fast food chain is "guilty as charged" for funding homophobia to the tune of millions every year - and they're proud of it.
This Wednesday, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and the biggest anti-gay organizations across the country are sending every one of their followers to chow down in Chick-fil-A and celebrate their homophobic agenda. This is the moment to show Chick-fil-A that homophobia is just plain rotten.
We can hit Chick-fil-A where it hurts - their bottom line. By not buying their food, and signing the petition to show your support - we can create the biggest demonstration of America's pro-equality agenda, ever. We have until Wednesday to make it happen - will you sign on and tell Chick-fil-A no way?
All over America, people are saying no way to Chick-fil-A's anti-equality stance. Chicago has said the franchise is not welcome. Boston has told Chick-fil-A they cannot set up shop where America's first, legal same-sex marriages were held. Students at University of Kansas and Wichita State University are demanding that Chick-fil-A get out of their schools.
Last year, Chick-fil-A spent around $2 million to fight marriage equality across the country, publishing false "reports" claiming that gay and lesbian people are abusive parents and, worst of all, pushing for criminalization of homosexuality all over the world.
We know there are other corporations funding anti-equality measures - but Chick-fil-A has taken this to new heights. They're proud to be peddling hate; "guilty as charged". In 2010 alone, Chick-fil-A gave almost $2 million dollars to anti-gay groups. A national outcry is creating an international media storm and it's telling one story - Chick-fil-A are on the wrong side of history.
With America's most powerful anti-gay organizations gathering behind one of their biggest funders - we need to send a message that it's not ok to play chicken with love and equality. It's time to show Chick-fil-A, and those whose anti-gay agenda they fund, that there are more people who believe in equality than oppose it. Our message is short and sweet - but we need to make it heard now. Wednesday is Chick-fil-A appreciation day - will you sign now and tell Chick-fil-A you don't appreciate their anti-gay stance?

But uh...when I did some research into those bullshit Ex-Gay camps that Chick-fil-a has sent donations to...and learned that they cause more pain than good...and that the American Psychology Association has rejected its practice as a "therapy" and has linked it to higher rates of depression and even suicides in the people that attend those programs...and that "success" is only measured by continued attendance, not by actual effectiveness...
Yeaaahh......
We had a
healthydelicious fried chicken dinner made at home instead :3I agree, but after the crowds I saw today, I lost any shred of support I had in me.
This might have started out just over Marriage, but after reading comments and watching the news, it has already turned into a full blown hate fest. =(
I worry about anyone that is a member of the LGBT community that works for them! I hope that they have not lost their jobs over all of this.
Religion has no place in business, and sadly, that's all it's become these days. "For Profit Salvation."
Frankly, I wouldn't have had a big problem with him being vocal against non-traditional families. That's his right as a tax-paying citizen of the USA. His opinion, his religion, and he's entitled to it. I have no place to silence him. I don't like it, but there's nothing I could do about that. Love thy neighbor and Tolerate his bullshit.
But the moment his donation totals were released and updated...When he put money and funded hateful programs and lobbyist groups (you know, people that can
bribepersuade lawmakers into making changes...that's like paying someone to make weapons for you, and your enemy is a bunch of preschoolers. That isn't fair and it isn't right.I have no more pity for Chick-Fil-A.
Her reason for bias, as far as I can tell, is because she likes the taste.
As long as the culture is so base as to allow people to support this kind of thing because they don't want to give up their favorite junk food, I have little hope for America.
Agreed. =(
Something that gets me is how someone was saying "We just want people to respect us for being against Gays getting married, and for them [the homosexuals] to respect our right to say we are against it."
How do you offer no respect and expect to get it?
And as far as their religion goes, there are several flaws in that, seeing as how a lot of what they are preaching goes directly against the Bible they claim to love so much...
But I can't abide by anything being used to justify hate. That's just wrong.
Pickle Juice is the secret ingredient.
Salt and pepper the flour before you dredge it.
Fry on Medium heat (5 or 6 on your stove top).
Marinate your chicken in it for an hour before dredging and it'll taste just like Chick-Fil-A's.
There! No more reason for bias :3
Oh yessss, let's all keep giving Chick-Fil-A hell and their show of support will just kill them all. 8D
Problem. Solved.
