But it's just their belief.

That is the main argument people have when it comes to the Chick-fil-h8 protest. Beside the fact that the corporation is donating money to hate groups that are fighting against equality and would criminalize homosexuality if they had their way. People say things about the first amendment which ignores the aspect of religion.
Anyways, here are the Top 50 Homophobic Chick-fil-A support tweets: http://storify.com/homophobes/top-5.....k-fil-a-tweets
This is what "just a belief" leads to. If you dehumanize a group of people then you open the door to hatred which eventually leads to atrocities. This has happened time and again. Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Eating there does contribute a small small portion to whatever that CEO dude donates his money too. What he decides to do with his money is harmful, it is wrong. I understand this, it's just that this whole debate is a lot more complicated than anyone is making out to be.
What I would like to see is the owners to drop the franchise and either go independent or sign on with a new franchise.

ChknCock! But seriously, this whole issue has been eye-opening personally for me. I've watched some of my family and friends weigh in on this subject and take sides with surprising debates and beliefs that may not be too shocking just disappointing.
However, while I admit I'm not up with the times and what's going on, I can't support a company whose profits are going to organizations which see many of my friends as something less than human. It's quite offensive what many of these people are saying, and somehow hating someone for something as inconsequential as sexual orientation is a mindset which boggles my mind. Even my heavily religious, very conservative family doesn't have the gall to hate someone based on these sorts of factors.
I'd sooner go to Los Pollos Hermanos than I'd eat at CFA again. And considering I referenced a fictional chicken chain that is a front for drug distribution that's a long time indeed. I'll get my chicken fix at KFC, thank you very much.
Seriously, you can't even sit down for lunch/coffee without it being politicised? Is there ANYTHING left in American society that hasn't been carved out into this Right-versus-Left battle? I can't think of a single issue that has bipartisan support anymore. It's like "If you're black, vote Democrat, if you're a white christian vote republican." If I happened to be be a believer in increased Free Market Economics who happened to be gay, I couldn't vote GOP without feeling like a traitor to my fellow gays. I understand it's because the GOP has been hijacked by theocratically-motivated individuals, but this is getting absurd
In my opinion this politicising of everything and anything has gotten WAY out of hand
Stephen Colbert put it the best
"I begun to feel that there was something left that would not divide us. I mean, I was naive enough to think that a cookie can simply be a delicious treat to be enjoyed without getting drawn into socio-sexual identity politics"
As far as the whole thing becoming political, it struck a nerve with the nation on a sensitive issue. It is also an election year, so how can you expect it not get political?
The good thing about all of this, those against marriage equality have come out of the closet showing their hate for all to see. All that has done is to hurt their image in the eyes of the fence sitters. The only stance the opposition had is one of hate and intolerance.
That's my biggest fear of this mess causing
