PLANESCAPE: TORMENT
Let me just say, best PC game ever made. I'm replaying it now for what has to be at least the 5th time. After hours of fidgeting with it I got it working on XP with minimal problems and all the right patches and fixes installed and such.
If you have played this game say something! Because I actually haven't met many others who have.
For those not familiar with it's pure awesomeness.

Oh, and perhaps the most words in a game, ever. 800,000 words in the script. = Soooo much great storyline and depth.
There's so much you can do just with like, intelligence and wisdom and conversation alone in this game, there's only really four battles you need to fight, the rest of the game you can get through on cleverness. There's actually a part of the game where you debate a guy out of existance. ( Because belief can become reality in this world/thing )

Although I prefered Arcanum and Fallout.
I will talk your ear off about it sometime.
And I rather liked Annah.
No console RPG has ever had a story to match.
And I just two seconds ago found something I hadn't found before in this game, talking to one of the random elderly hive dwellers and saying I had some questions brought about a rant about how she used to be an adventurer and she bets I have all kinds of
"I'll bet ye've got all *sorts* o' barmy questions!" She mimics your heroic stance: "Greetin's, I have some questions... can ye tell me about this place? Who's the Lady o' Pain? I'm lookin' fer the magic Girdle o' Swank Iron, have ye seen it? Do ye know where a portal to the 2,817th Plane of the Abyss might be? Do ye know where the Holy Flamin' Frost-Brand Gronk-Slayin' Vorpal Hammer o' Woundin' an' Returnin' an' Shootin'-Lightnin'-Out-Yer-Bum is?"
but yes, that was like a fifty hour storygasam right there.
Live a Live and Terranigma had both a really epic story and storytelling. I would dare to say it matches the story of Planescape: Torment.
I guess it's not too late to play it.
Morte and this dude who is just a ggeometric form with limbs (forgot his name) are my favourites.^^
It blows any other RPG out of the water :D
