Dream narrative #6
I fell asleep for a few hours today, while I was waiting for my mother to wake up so we could celebrate mother's day. With that irony, I bring you this dream which really has nothing to do with the holiday that spawned it:
In the beginning we were animals, feral but also intelligent. We were also pretty small, only a little more than cub sized. There were three of us at first, I the feline, a husky, and a wolf who I think was my mate Ezra, because I felt a great attachment to him. He was clearly someone important to me in this dream. The three of us were in a room which looked like a large classroom. It felt like we were supposed to be working on something but there was no teacher around and we were the only three in the class so we weren't getting anything done.
Another canine appeared in the doorway, I don't remember much about him other than that he didn't ever speak and he already had an obvious erection. It was clear what he wanted. The wolf apparently thought this was really cute, and went over to examine him, then lead him into the room with us. I'm not sure whether any time passed here but the next thing I remember is that all four of us now had large erections, species appropriate of course, and we all put on condoms.
I looked up and saw that the wolf had decided to take the new-comer, instead of me. This hurt me a little bit, I was jealous. I distinctly remember that I wanted the wolf to mount me, and because I loved him I felt like it was only right for us to be together. He saw me looking at him, and he could tell I was disappointed. He said something to me like, "How else will I know that I like you the most?" And for some reason I accepted that. It felt like he and I had been together a good while, and shared things like this before, so I trusted him. He told me I could have some fun with the husky, who didn't object.
The husky and I went out to the hall for some reason, and there was a medicine ball type thing there that I was going to lean over, but there were some people down towards the end of the hall who were moving in this direction. We went back inside and I saw that the wolf and the other canine had tried something more private. There were over in a corner away from the door, trying to put up some large poster board-y stuff to block them from view.
At this point the people from the hall reached the room and we could see them moving about outside the doorway. They entered the room a few minutes later, a teacher with several students, all humans. They started setting up something, and the teacher looked at us, starting to explain that there was going to be a presentation in there soon. At least it was something like that. What he actually said was a very odd roundabout way of talking that I can't quite remember. He addressed me specifically and called me over to talk about my presentation.
As I approached him I became a human, and fully clothed, while the other critters were just forgotten into the background of the dream. He talked to me about making a slide show and I asked him how many slides I would need. He replied, "Five times half a score should do, to start." I was kind of dismayed by that because I'd only planned on doing about 10, but I agreed with him and didn't say anything about it. He asked me what font I thought would be good to use, and I talked back to him in a really strange way but I think it amounted to, "Whatever takes up the most space," but because of the way I said it to him he didn't understand me at all. Probably that was for the better.
The dream here started entering a very odd sort of dual format. I can remember standing there and talking with the teacher, but at the same time I remember writing the conversation down on paper, and laughing at the nonsensical lines I was giving my character. It was as if I were simultaneously writing a story and living it.
Some amount of time passed and I left the school on foot. There was a strange heaviness about me, and I couldn't keep my balance for any length of time, which made it very difficult to get where I was going. I kept stumbling into the middle of the road, falling there or on the side. I got to the center of my town eventually, where the green is and everything, and I fell towards the side of the road. A van drove by and seemed to slow a little as if they were going to come back around and see if I was alright. The idea dismayed me because I didn't want people to know there was anything wrong with me, despite how obvious that was. The van didn't come back though.
I got to the main intersection type place of the town, and I had an idea I needed to get back to the school for some reason, or maybe it was a different school than before but the idea in my head was clearly to get to the elementary school. The problem was I was so disoriented and the center of town looked different from what I remembered. I started off in the wrong direction but realized that and started crossing the street in the other direction. A bunch of people pulled up to the intersection I was crossing and finally realized something was not right with me. As I stumbled across the street, the women in the convertible which was closest to me apparently recognized me even though I had no idea who they were, and started asking me if I was alright and other such concerned expressions. I managed to convince them I was fine though, again because I didn't want anyone to know what was going on with me. I don't know what made me so imbalanced but I didn't question that either.
I never did get to that school but I made my way to another building. There was a good sized parking lot, and a few floors at least because there was an elevator inside but it wasn't a huge building. My condition seemed to be better by then, I didn't have anymore balance issues for the rest of the dream.
I ran into the lobby area, and people were trying to stop me for some reason, maybe they wanted to hospitalize me because of how I was earlier, I don't know. Anyway I went across to the elevator, and ran in there, trying to press the button to go up. There didn't seem to be any button for the door to close quickly so a few kids jumped in with me. They were only a little bit younger and at first seemed to be on the side with the others but by the time we got out of the elevator we'd become friends.
Before that though, I was trying to take the elevator up, but the people on the outside didn't want to let me. There apparently wasn't any way for any of the buttons to override one or the other so me pressing the button to go up to the next floor worked equally well as the folks outside pressing the call button. This resulted in a rapid, jerky up and down elevator ride, which didn't really get anywhere. One man from the outside managed to grab onto the top edge of the elevator somehow and was hanging off of it, laughing and saying stuff like "Try to go up now!" He thought he'd won, but that was not the case. I was finally able to get the elevator to go up more smoothly and the man hung on stubbornly, being squeezed between the elevator and the shaft. He wasn't really hurt by it, kind of like in a cartoon. He was just squeezed in there, but I didn't want to do that to him anyway so I let it back down and he fell to the floor.
Before leaving the elevator I talked to my new friends in there a bit. They were pretty similar to me, in attitude and general appearance, only slightly younger. One of them had a ponytail, as did I, only his was much less substantial than mine. I told him I thought it was cute, and then we four left the place.
It was night when we got outside to the parking lot again. Two of the guys ran off into the dark, and I started after them, feeling like they were abandoning me. "Where are you going?" I shouted after them, but they were gone. The last of my new friends remained with me. He was not the one with the ponytail. He seemed to understand me more than the others, and was more mature. I lay down flat on my pack right there on the pavement, looking up at the stars. He did the same, several yards away. Off on the other side of the lot there was a fast food place, which a girl was leaving with some food. She ran across the parking lot, jumping over me, and at the last second I reached out to grab at her ankle, in order to trip her or something and get some of her food. I guess that was the idea, but I only just touched her and she kept right on going.
I looked over at my friend and made a little gesture with my hand, my thumb and forefinger very close together. "I was this close to fries," I said. He smiled and I laughed a little. Then I got up off the ground.
